“Hehehe.”

The source of the laughter was in the corridor, separated from Li Yi and Wu Qian by only a single door.

If it pushed open that door, it would immediately discover the two of them completely unprepared.

A fine sheen of sweat appeared on Wu Qian’s forehead. Even though she had handled more than a dozen supernatural cases in her year with the Criminal Police Unit, and had faced off against many Fierce Ghosts,

No matter how many times she encountered these bizarre and powerful supernatural beings, she could never remain completely calm.

It was precisely because she understood them that she knew how terrifying Fierce Ghosts could be.

[“Has that thing already found the Streamer’s location?”]

[“I think it’s possible. Otherwise, why would the Fierce Ghost appear right after the Streamer entered this classroom?”]

[“I can’t take it anymore. After watching the Streamer’s broadcast, I feel like there are ghosts everywhere-under the bed, in the closet, even in the bathroom.”]

Li Yi didn’t look at the barrage of comments. He simply stared intently at the classroom door in front of him, his hand already resting on the Ghost-Slaying Blade.

Ready to fight at any moment.

The System’s mission was only to kill the Evil Ghost of Dajiang Kindergarten.

It didn’t require him to investigate the truth behind Dajiang Kindergarten.

So this mission could, in theory, be solved purely by force.

He was quite confident in his current combat strength.

With two Fierce Ghost Crystals in hand, close combat was no longer his weakness.

For ranged attacks, he had the support of the Yin-Yang Five Thunders. With the Five Thunders crashing down, what Fierce Ghost could possibly withstand it?

[“Strange laughter echoes in the corridor. It seems to have discovered your location. You decide to…”]

[Option One: Hide. Mission reward: Ink Line, which can reveal invisible Fierce Ghosts.]

[Option Two: Confront head-on. Mission reward: Healing Bandage, which can save your life in a critical state.]

Can’t fight it head-on?

As the System’s options appeared in his mind, Li Yi immediately dismissed his previous idea.

If a head-on fight was possible, the System would never offer an escape option.

This was a warning: the Evil Ghost in Dajiang Kindergarten was far stronger than he was.

Li Yi was stunned. Was his A+ Spirit Binder rating just for show?

Why did every supernatural incident he got involved in seem to produce a Fierce Ghost stronger than his own level?

[“Spirit Binder missions are automatically assigned based on the Host’s current combat strength. In simple missions, the Fierce Ghost’s power matches the Host’s. In difficult missions, the Fierce Ghost exceeds the Host by one level.

For hell-level missions, the Evil Ghost’s strength surpasses the Host by two major realms.”]

As if hearing Li Yi’s doubts, the System took the initiative to explain.

No wonder, Li Yi realized. The System was deliberately increasing the difficulty for him.

If every Fierce Ghost could be steamrolled by brute force, the System might as well just hand over the rewards directly.

Risk and reward always go hand in hand.

The greater the harvest you seek, the more effort you must pay.

This is the law of equivalent exchange.

But now was not the time to dwell on such things.

Li Yi glanced at the classroom behind him. If he jumped straight out the window, with his speed, he could easily escape before the Fierce Ghost opened the door.

But Wu Qian would have to be left behind, and the sound of shattering glass would be far too loud. The breaking glass would definitely attract the Fierce Ghost’s attention, and it would surely notice his actions.

If they were to hide…

Li Yi’s gaze returned to the classroom. In the entire room,

If there was anywhere to hide a person, it could only be the bookshelf in the last row of the classroom.
The cabinet was just big enough for two people.

Li Yi shot Wu Qian a look, then, without hesitation, slipped into the cabinet door on the left side of the back door.

He closed the door.

The movement was seamless, as if he had rehearsed it countless times-so smooth it was almost unnatural.

Wu Qian, standing to the side, was stunned. Weren’t they here to exorcise a ghost? Why were they suddenly hiding in a bookcase?

“If you don’t want to die, get in here with me.”

Li Yi’s reprimand came from inside the cabinet. And she called herself a detective-where was her sense of danger?

The Fierce Ghost was already at the door, and she was still standing there, frozen. Wasn’t that just asking to die?

Li Yi had completely forgotten that just a moment ago, he was ready to fight the Fierce Ghost behind the door with the Ghost-Slaying Blade on his back.

Then Wu Qian also slipped into another section of the bookcase, making no sound at all.

Only then did Li Yi breathe a sigh of relief. At least this woman wasn’t completely hopeless.

Darkness enveloped them.

Wu Qian hid in the compartment on the other side. The environment was so quiet she could only hear her own breathing. In such a setting, she couldn’t help but recall countless scenes from horror movies she’d seen before.

Was it really safe to hide here?

On the other side, Li Yi peered through a gap at the top of the bookcase, observing the classroom outside. The perspective in the Live Streaming Room followed Li Yi’s gaze, fixing on the classroom door.

For a moment, the barrage of comments in the Live Streaming Room came to a halt. Everyone’s hearts stopped as the laughter outside the door drew closer.

The System’s live feed was extremely clear. Watching Li Yi’s stream, it felt as if they were right there with him.

It was as if they themselves were inside the haunted Dajiang Kindergarten, separated from the Fierce Ghost by only a door.

[“Streamer, hiding in the bookcase doesn’t seem very safe. If we get discovered, there’s no escape route.”]

[“I agree with the person above. Wouldn’t it be better to block the door in advance so that thing outside can’t get in?”]

[“The guy on the second floor is an idiot. Do you think this is Counter-Strike? The thing outside is a ghost. How could locking the door stop a ghost?”]

[“Let’s stop talking, don’t distract the Streamer.”]

[“Exactly. None of you seem to know your place. You all think you’re exorcism masters? Out of all of us, only the Streamer is a professional.”]

Li Yi stared intently at the classroom door, not daring to look away. The laughter suddenly stopped-silent and abrupt. This change was even more terrifying.

Silence was the prelude to a storm.

For a moment, even he couldn’t help but feel nervous.

Why did it suddenly stop laughing? Had it already discovered the two of them?

Li Yi tried to assess the situation.

Impossible. The two of them had been very careful, not making a sound, and the System’s options never made mistakes.

He couldn’t panic first.

“System, claim mission reward: Ink Line.”

Li Yi’s expression flickered, and he spoke silently in his heart.

Immediately, a spool of line, with a texture somewhat like plastic, appeared in his hand.

“Could it be that the Fierce Ghost has already entered the classroom, and I just can’t see it?”

Li Yi stared at the Ink Line in his hand, muttering to himself.

Only now did he realize how terrifying the Fierce Ghosts in Dajiang Kindergarten truly were.

A Fierce Ghost that could turn invisible-even his Yin-Yang Eyes couldn’t track its movements.

Such an ability was simply too frightening.
