Chapter 36
The corners were thick with spider webs, dust covered the once-clean tabletops, and toys, books, tables, and chairs were scattered messily across the floor.
This must be Dajiang Kindergarten after it was abandoned.
Li Yi was certain, because there wasn’t a single person in the video.
Only Fierce Ghosts…
The children he had seen in previous videos had now all become Fierce Ghosts, quietly sitting in their seats as if waiting for someone to arrive.
Creak.
The classroom door opened, and a ‘person’ walked in.
The video didn’t show their face clearly; all that could be seen was that their height was no different from the children.
But they wore adult clothes, held a book, and walked up to the podium.
Li Yi couldn’t help but frown.
Live Streaming Room chat:
[“Could this child be Ming from the recording? Did he kill everyone at Dajiang Kindergarten just to attend class?”]
[“Children’s minds are impossible to fathom. It’s one thing to attend class while alive, but even after death, he still attends class?”]
[“Maybe it’s a Ghost who loves to study.”]
The audience began their wild speculations. Li Yi glanced at them but didn’t bother to read further.
If he listened to these fools, he’d probably never figure out how he died.
He felt something was wrong. The thing children at a kindergarten love most is never studying, but freedom.
Yet now, a child had replaced the teacher at the podium, and the other children sat upright and proper in their seats. It was truly strange.
It gave a strong sense of discord, as if someone was manipulating them.
Could it be the teachers of the school?
A thought rose in Li Yi’s mind, but he quickly dismissed it. In the recording, the teachers had been so desperate to drive away the Fierce Ghosts that they resorted to fake exorcists, and even while alive, they were just being toyed with by the Fierce Ghosts. How could things suddenly reverse after death?
[“Streamer, are you sure this video isn’t some technical fabrication? My god, twenty Fierce Ghosts gathering for a class is just too bizarre.”]
[“The place in the video does look like the abandoned Dajiang Kindergarten. I’ve seen photos in the news, it checks out.”]
[“This is terrifying. Why does it feel like these kids are being controlled by someone?”]
[“Streamer, are you really going to stream from there? It looks so scary. Maybe we should pick another location.”]
“There were twenty victims on the school bus that year, but look-how many people are in the classroom?”
“Where did the teachers’ Ghosts go?” Li Yi pointed out a suspicious detail in the video.
Logically, adults have more desires, so their chances of becoming Fierce Ghosts should be much higher than children’s.
But why was the teacher’s role in the video being played by a child?
Where did the teachers’ Ghosts go?
[“Could it be that the teachers’ Ghosts were eaten by these children?”]
[“Damn, the more I think about it, the scarier it gets. Tomorrow I won’t dare send my son to school.”]
[“After watching the Streamer’s broadcast, I threw my kindergarten-aged son downstairs in the middle of the night. Too scary.”]
[“Was your son wrapped in tissues when you threw him?”]
“All right, we’ve pretty much gone through all the clues. Now let’s head to the target location and see for ourselves.”
Li Yi walked to his garage. He hadn’t owned a car before.
But ever since he started streaming, with the support of a hundred million viewers in the Live Streaming Room, he had more than enough funds.
Soon, a Lamborghini worth tens of millions rolled out.
The engine’s roar was music to the ears, accompanied by a flurry of comments in the live chat.
[“If the Streamer can afford this car, the rest of us should really reflect on our lives.”]
[“You bastard, this is what I tipped you for!”]
This time, Li Yi was thoroughly prepared: the Ghost-Slaying Blade, Death Substitution Talisman, and Centennial Peachwood Sword were all strapped to his back.
He had even specially made a sheath for the Ghost-Slaying Blade, making it much more convenient.
At exactly 1 a.m.
Li Yi stepped out of the car and looked up.
It seemed that every time he streamed, the sky was unusually dim, as if warning him how dangerous the place he was about to enter could be.
But he had to go. If he wanted to survive in this world of supernatural resurgence, he had to keep getting stronger.
Mount Longhu and Fierce Ghosts were the forces pushing him to grow.
Li Yi spoke to the live chat: “The school ahead is Dajiang Kindergarten, where a major incident happened two years ago. Now, there’s no living soul left here.”
Li Yi scanned the entrance. Dajiang Kindergarten was located on the outskirts of the city, with no other buildings nearby except the school itself.
Only a winding river flowed past, its water an unsettling shade of green.
“Looks like you can’t see anything wrong from the outside. Let’s go in and take a look.”
His luck tonight was especially bad-it was raining.
Li Yi looked up. The clouds hung low; it looked like rain was about to fall.
To avoid getting soaked, he hurried up and entered the school.
Just as he stepped through the gate, thunder boomed.
“Rumble!”
Lightning lit up half the sky.
Li Yi wasn’t caught by the rain, but behind him, a pair of wet footprints appeared.
They stretched all the way behind him.
This scene was caught by viewers in the live chat.
[“Streamer! Why is there a pair of footprints following you!”]
[“Is it a ghost?”]
[“That ghost must be invisible!”]
[“Sob, I’m getting scared to watch!”]
Seeing the reminders in the chat, Li Yi quickly turned around, his hand on the Ghost-Slaying Blade strapped to his back.
“You sneaky thing-come out!”
A figure stepped out from behind the door, completely soaked by the rain, wearing a large raincoat and taking off her hood.
“It’s you?” Li Yi was surprised-the newcomer was Wu Qian, the policewoman he’d met once before at Qingshan Hospital.
“I was on duty nearby and came here to take shelter from the rain. Why are you here?”
The oversized raincoat couldn’t hide Wu Qian’s graceful figure, and her wet long hair only added to her charm.
She looked at Li Yi inside the gate in surprise, as if wondering why she’d run into him here.
Seeing that it was Wu Qian, Li Yi let out a sigh of relief: “I thought it was a ghost coming out. You gave me a scare…”
[“The Streamer’s reaction is so real. I jumped straight up from my bed when I saw that.”]
[“That’s nothing-I live on the third floor. When this woman appeared, I was so scared my bed bounced out onto the street.”]
[“666 (awesome), are you a demigod?”]
Li Yi glanced up and down, and after confirming that the person in front of him was alive, he finally relaxed.
“I heard this place was haunted, so I came to check it out.” Li Yi answered Wu Qian’s question naturally.
