Chapter 35
At first, the child’s voice still sounded normal, carrying the unique innocence of a child. But as it went on, the voice became increasingly strange, completely unlike that of a truly adorable six- or seven-year-old child.
The child’s voice grew bizarre and twisted, as if deliberately pinching his nose, half crying and half laughing, sending chills down one’s spine.
“Ming came back. He took us to the river, and we saw two Mings.”
The voice grew sharper and extremely grating.
Li Yi couldn’t help but frown. This Ming was definitely dead, without a doubt.
He just didn’t know for what reason, but Ming had returned to Dajiang Kindergarten as a Fierce Ghost.
Could it be that his death wasn’t a simple drowning, but that someone had framed him?
The teachers’ reactions at the school were also very strange. Could the incident be related to the school?
Someone killed Ming, and Ming’s resentment lingered, turning him into a Fierce Ghost who returned for revenge.
Li Yi continued to listen.
“We were very scared and told the teacher about Ming. When the teacher heard about it, their expression became very secretive and told us not to mention it again.”
“The teacher told us not to bring it up, but then the recording paused for a while, as if signaling a turning point in the story.”
Afterward, the child’s voice sounded again, becoming calm.
“Ming only wants all of us to become like him, then he won’t scare us anymore…”
“We agreed…”
The recording ended here.
This recording didn’t sound like it was from the perspective of an ordinary child talking to him, but rather from the perspective of a Ghost.
By the time the child left this recording, he had already become a Ghost.
Li Yi licked his lips. The System was truly remarkable, able to directly find victims to provide him with clues.
[“This child named Ming was definitely killed by the teachers at the school. Otherwise, why wouldn’t they dare report it to the Spirit Bureau? Instead, they went to find a Taoist priest among the common folk, but ended up with a fraud. Now look, everyone is dead.”]
[“This child’s voice is really scary. And why were there two Mings, one corpse and one Ghost? But what did he mean by his last words? Did everyone become Ghosts?”]
[“Damn, the more you think about it, the scarier it gets.”]
[“Did you notice the tone of that child? So strange. Is that a normal child’s narrative ability?”]
[“All the children on the school bus died in that accident, so who left this recording…?”]
Everyone fell silent, the answer already clear in their hearts.
It was a Ghost.
The child’s voice in the recording was simply too eerie; all signs pointed to the fact that he was not among the living.
Li Yi did not explain, but first checked another clue provided by the System.
It was a video, from his current mission location: Dajiang Kindergarten.
In the video, Dajiang Kindergarten still looked as it did two years ago, not like now-dilapidated and abandoned for a long time after the incident.
All the teachers and students of Dajiang Kindergarten had already moved out of there.
It was much like what happened at Wangfei Hospital, all because of a bizarre incident.
The first thing that appeared was a bright classroom.
It was probably around noon, during the children’s nap time.
In the video, a child could be seen lifting his head from the desk.
Suddenly, he looked toward the door, as if something outside was calling to him.
But there was no one outside, only the door-perhaps blown open by a stray wind-swaying gently.
No, Li Yi’s gaze suddenly sharpened. Something was wrong with the door; it didn’t seem to be moving because of the wind.
Instead, it looked as if an invisible person was mischievously playing with the handle.
The child seemed to see something. He stood up from his seat, glanced around the room to make sure no one was there, and then walked to the door.
His expression was full of surprise and delight, as if he had seen someone he wanted to meet. He muttered to himself outside the door for a while, then returned to his seat and pulled his blanket over his head for a nap.
The footage was very clear. Watching this video, Li Yi felt as if he were right there, witnessing the event as it happened, standing to the side and observing everything.
“This video was recorded at Dajiang Kindergarten, where the strange case occurred years ago.
And the child in the footage was one of the twenty children who died in the incident.”
“Now, all of them are dead. Not a single one survived.”
Li Yi described the scene in the video to the viewers in the Live Streaming Room.
In fact, he didn’t need to say much more. The System had already broadcast the entire video live in the Live Streaming Room, and everyone who saw it was scared stiff.
[“Who is this child talking to? What did he see that we can’t?”]
[“It seems our previous guess was right. The accident at Dajiang Kindergarten two years ago was caused by a Fierce Ghost.”]
[“So terrifying. The video shows it was 1 p.m., and yet the Fierce Ghost could still appear and commit a crime.”]
[“If a Fierce Ghost can act in broad daylight, then even daytime isn’t safe anymore.”]
The video continued. Just as everyone thought the incident was over, the classroom curtain suddenly moved.
It seemed to be stirred by a breeze, but if you looked closely, you could see a faint, human-shaped bulge on the curtain.
It looked like the silhouette of a child.
This state lasted for more than ten seconds.
It wasn’t until nap time ended and all the children woke up that the figure disappeared behind the curtain.
Who was the owner of this shadow?
And who was the child at the door talking to?
Judging by his expression, he seemed very familiar with that shadow.
Li Yi noticed that when the child was talking to the ‘person’ outside the door, his face showed delight, not fear.
This meant that the ‘person’ outside the door was likely the Ming mentioned in the previous recording.
Based on the recording he’d heard and the video he’d just watched, Li Yi came to a conclusion.
In Dajiang Kindergarten, there was an invisible and inaudible presence. The Fierce Ghost was actually a child named Ming, who had once been a member of Dajiang Kindergarten.
Two clues emerged.
First, the identity of the Fierce Ghost-a child named Ming.
Second, the cause of the Fierce Ghost’s death. Clearly, the teachers at the school knew the cause, but for some reason, deliberately concealed it.
Li Yi calmly analyzed the clues he had gathered.
This Fierce Ghost couldn’t be seen with the naked eye, which was quite troublesome.
But since he possessed the Yin-Yang Eyes, he should have some advantage.
The video then shifted, and the classroom suddenly became dilapidated and ruined.
