chapter 21
Live Streaming Room barrage.
[“The Streamer is doomed. How could he possibly dodge at such close range!”]
[“In the end, the Streamer is still just an ordinary person. Even though he can use Thunder Technique to blast Fierce Ghosts, at such close range, even if he had three heads and six arms, there’s absolutely no way he could dodge the Fierce Ghost’s attack.”]
[“Humans are still humans. How could they possibly be a match for ghosts? The Streamer is still too young.”]
Li Yi had no idea what the viewers in the Live Streaming Room were saying. He only knew that the Fierce Ghost had walked up behind him.
“Such audacity.”
Li Yi’s gaze turned sharp. Palm Thunder lit up in his left palm. He spun around swiftly and struck the thing behind him in the abdomen.
With a loud “Boom!”
Palm Thunder struck a stiff creature dead on. Only then did Li Yi see clearly that what stood behind him was actually a corpse, its flesh and blood mangled beyond recognition.
The corpse was a ghastly sight, as if it had fallen from a tall building to its death. There was no doubt that this was a Fierce Ghost.
The Fierce Ghost was blasted away by Palm Thunder. Most of its body was left numb and charred by the electricity, but it did not lose its ability to move.
Instead, it used those gray, lifeless ghostly eyes to quietly meet Li Yi’s gaze.
Suddenly, it opened its mouth wide, the corners splitting straight to its ears, emitting a bizarre sound: “Outsider, must die. Outsider, must die…”
And in front of Li Yi’s eyes, a prompt from the System flashed by.
“The Fierce Ghost who died in vain in this hospital has sensed your trespass and is extremely enraged. As a Fierce Ghost with a death certificate and an identity, it has been knocked away by an Outsider human. It is gradually losing control. In this situation, you decide to…”
A line of subtitles appeared before Li Yi’s eyes.
“Option One: Kneel and beg for mercy. Reward: Title ‘Dog Among Bears.’ While wearing this title, others will automatically underestimate your true strength. Even those weaker than you will dare to try to control you.”
“Option Two: Take off your pants. Maybe the Fierce Ghost is into this. Reward: ‘Withered Chrysanthemum on the Chrysanthemum Terrace.’ Your smile has faded.”
“Option Three: What kind of dumb wild ghost are you? Take a set of Electrotherapy from Grandpa Li! Reward: Seven Wolves Belt (Magical Artifact version), can deal a large amount of physical damage and massive mental attacks to ghostly entities.”
Li Yi didn’t hesitate at all and decisively chose the third option. Blinding electric light flared in both his palms as he went up and delivered a full set of Electrotherapy to the Fierce Ghost on the ground: “Outsiders must die? How are you so tough? The sun is so bright-why don’t you fly up and stand shoulder to shoulder with it!”
The pitiful Fierce Ghost was instantly electrocuted, screaming miserably, white smoke rising from its body, its form even starting to dissipate.
The Live Streaming Room barrage was filled with 66666…
[“Damn, this is so freaking satisfying! Where else can you see such a spectacular show?”]
[“Awesome, absolutely awesome! I feel like my thirty-something years have been lived in vain. The Fierce Ghost is being ground into the dirt by the Streamer.”]
“Ugh, ugh, ugh…”
This Fierce Ghost was extremely tenacious. Even after being subdued by Li Yi’s Thunder Technique, it could still stand. Though it looked wobbly, it was surprisingly steady.
Its eyes were filled with venomous hatred, its limbs twisted, and it let out a chilling, furious roar.
Live Streaming Room barrage.
[“This Fierce Ghost has gone berserk. Do you think there’ll be a situation where the Fierce Ghost explodes with power and counter-kills the Streamer?”]
[“It’s not entirely impossible. Not all ghosts are the same. I’ve personally fed three Fierce Ghosts to their fill when they were extremely enraged.”]
[“Of the thirty-six stratagems, running away is the best.”]
Li Yi gave a scornful laugh. By the age of three, he was already laying down the law at the nursing home; at six, he ruled the paralysis ward; one shout from him in the morgue, and not a single breath dared sound.
Did a mere Fierce Ghost really think it could scare him off? It had better ask his Seven Wolves Belt first.
Li Yi calmly accepted the System’s reward, and soon a genuine Seven Wolves Belt-a real branded leather belt-appeared in his hand.
“Ah, ah, ah!”
Anything produced by the System was guaranteed quality. The Fierce Ghost immediately started howling as Li Yi whipped it with the Seven Wolves Belt.
The live stream’s effect was explosive-the live viewers couldn’t stop laughing.
The Streamer beat the Fierce Ghost as casually as if disciplining his own son.
“What are you screaming for? Have you no sense of the time? What if you wake up the nearby residents?
Even if you don’t disturb the neighbors, making noise and bothering the flowers and grass outside isn’t good either.”
Li Yi had no intention of indulging this Fierce Ghost-his attitude was completely different from how he treated Zhang Na before. For one, Zhang Na’s level was far too terrifying for him to handle right now.
Second, Zhang Na was good-looking.
That’s right: to Li Yi, appearance was everything.
As the old saying goes, ‘With every strike from a willow branch, a ghost grows shorter.’
Li Yi’s Seven Wolves Belt, whatever it was made of, had exactly that effect.
The Fierce Ghost shrank before their eyes, growing shorter and shorter with every hit, until it was no taller than a three-year-old child.
At this point, Li Yi stopped. He had to-if he kept going, the ghost would vanish for good.
He was hoping to get some clues about Zhang Na’s death from this ghost.
When Li Yi stopped, the ghost was moved to tears. What kind of powerhouse had come to their Ghost Building, handling them as easily as one would a child?
With a thud, it knelt on the ground, hands pressed together as if in gratitude for Li Yi’s mercy.
“Do you know Zhang Na?” Li Yi asked, inquiring about the Blood-clad Ghost’s past. The ghost grew agitated as soon as it heard the name, nodding frantically.
Li Yi signaled for it to share everything it knew, and the ghost obediently complied.
Twenty years ago, the Old Dean of Wangfei Hospital adopted a child named Zhang Na.
But after all, she wasn’t the Old Dean’s biological child, so she was never treated the same.
From then on, her standing in the Old Dean’s eyes only got worse.
She was often bullied-the bully was the Old Dean’s own daughter.
Zhang Na was beautiful, and many people in the hospital admired her.
Hearing this, Li Yi nodded approvingly.
“I was one of her admirers, too. Everything changed when the Dean’s Daughter came of age. On her wedding night, her fiancé noticed Zhang Na’s beauty and was overcome with desire.
To protect her own innocence, Zhang Na jumped from the tall building.”
“Seven days later, the Fierce Ghost returned and killed everyone in the hospital.” The ghost’s eyes showed regret as it spoke.
Apparently, after Zhang Na fell to her death, her resentment lingered, turning her into a Fierce Ghost who returned for revenge.
But she was overwhelmed by rage, lost control, and killed everyone here.
Li Yi speculated quietly.
Maybe the Old Dean adopted Zhang Na out of old age and frailty, desperately needing someone to care for him, so he took her in.
Who could have expected that not long after adopting Zhang Na, he’d have a biological child of his own in middle age.
