chapter 15
Li Yi stared at the three options that popped up before him, falling silent.
The first two both spelled certain death-clearly, this Fierce Ghost was not something he could take head-on.
[“Man, this Streamer’s luck is just the worst. Did he forget to burn incense for Buddha or something? Guess he’s about to meet Buddha in person!”]
A comment flashed across Li Yi’s screen, sparking an idea.
Buddha’s Merit Box?
Right-there happened to be a Faxiang Temple not far away.
Li Yi instantly chose option three. The text before his eyes shifted, showing the task was now underway.
“Audience Friends, what do you do when you run into a Fierce Ghost demanding Life-for-Money?
Don’t panic-just put the money in Buddha’s Merit Box and let Buddha handle it.”
Li Yi gave a thumbs-up and flashed a dazzling smile.
The moment he said this, the live chat exploded:
[“Bro, that move is legendary!”]
[“Fierce Ghost: ‘You really want me gone, huh?'”]
[“Is someone like this Streamer even real?”]
[“So you ignore Buddha all year, but when you run into a ghost you want Buddha to fight it for you?”]
The viewers were all stunned by Li Yi’s maneuver-this Streamer was just too slick.
[“Haha, the Streamer is seriously clever. Honestly, his tricks are pretty useful. I’m following!” One fan was so entertained, they sent Li Yi dozens of rockets.]
Li Yi grinned: “Got a ghost problem? Don’t sweat it-watch my stream for every little survival trick.”
Next, with the Blood-clad Ghost’s eyes fixed on him, Li Yi strolled right into the temple.
After all, the Blood-clad Ghost’s killing method was more like a curse, not a direct attack.
Usually, after picking up the Life-for-Money, there was a seven-day window before the Fierce Ghost struck. So for now, he was perfectly safe.
“Namo Amitabha Buddha.”
As soon as he entered, two Samaneras greeted him politely.
Li Yi walked straight up to the Golden Buddha, aimed for the Buddha’s Merit Box, and stuffed in a wad of Hell Banknotes.
Maybe it was just his imagination, but Li Yi felt like the Golden Buddha’s expression turned a little odd after he did that.
[“Ding! Task complete. You’ve obtained the Celestial Dao Physique.”]
Li Yi lit a stick of incense and thought to himself, “Tathagata Buddha, all you gods and Buddhas-this curse isn’t my problem anymore. You deal with it.”
“Namo Amitabha Buddha, benefactor, your virtue is admirable. Buddha will surely bless you.”
The two Samaneras had sharp eyes and only saw Li Yi pull out a wad of red bills and drop them in the Merit Box. Their faces lit up with joy.
“Our Buddha is merciful.”
Li Yi pressed his palms together, his expression solemn, and walked slowly out of the temple.
[“Haha, Streamer, you’re something else. You made the temple take the hit and they still have to thank you!”]
[“Can’t wait to see the monks’ faces when they find the Life-for-Money.”]
[“The Streamer is savage-absolutely ruthless, but we love it! Please, keep it up!”]
Mission accomplished-time to bail.
Once he was out of sight of the two Samaneras, Li Yi’s eyes lit up and he quickly slipped away, worried someone might catch on to what he’d just done.
“System: claim my reward.”
Once he was alone, Li Yi silently recited the command. A golden light, visible only to him, instantly enveloped his body.
With the Celestial Dao Physique, his Daoist cultivation would be smoother than ever. What took ordinary people a year to master,
or even two years for certain Daoist techniques, he could grasp at a glance. That’s the power of the Celestial Dao Physique.
Baoxiang Temple.
The Abbot was counting today’s gains for the temple.
According to the Samanera at the gate, a big client had come to the temple today and spent quite generously.
“Damn it, who the hell did this? Who threw the Life-for-Money of a Fierce Ghost into the Merit box dedicated to the venerable Buddha?”
Opening the Merit box, he cursed, “Bastard, don’t let your Buddha catch you. If I catch you…”
Before the old Abbot could finish, the tightly closed temple gates suddenly swung open.
With a loud bang, they slammed heavily against the doorframe.
The old Abbot reflexively turned around, but outside the door was empty-no one in sight.
Instantly, cold sweat broke out across his forehead.
“What Fiend dares commit evil under the eyes of the Buddha?” the old Abbot shouted loudly, his voice tinged with unease.
Yet, no one answered his question.
Was he overthinking things?
Just as the old Abbot thought it was merely a random gust of wind blowing open the doors, a blood-red figure appeared behind him.
He felt a surge of intense, venomous resentment rise from behind, shooting straight up to the heavens. The aura was identical to the resentment lingering on the Hell Banknote.
At once, he understood-the owner of the Hell Banknote had come to settle accounts.
The old Abbot’s face turned ashen: “What a clever move, shifting disaster onto others. The venerable Buddha could never have imagined someone would offer this as Merit.”
Instinctively, the old Abbot turned the Buddhist Prayer Beads in his hand, taking a deep breath.
“Om Mani Padme Hum!”
The old Abbot spun around in shock, the Buddhist Prayer Beads in his hand radiating Buddha’s light, striking at the Fierce Ghost behind him.
Fortunately, the old Abbot was a genuine Spirit Expeller.
Otherwise, facing this Fierce Ghost at his door, he would have been truly cursed with terrible luck.
At this moment, the Blood-clad Ghost in red was only a step away, its two withered arms reaching for his head.
Just as the Abbot’s Buddhist Prayer Beads collided with it, a fierce ghostly aura burst forth. The old Abbot’s expression changed dramatically-he hadn’t expected this to be a Blood-clad Ghost.
He immediately realized that someone, knowing the Fierce Ghost behind the Hell Banknote was vicious, had deliberately tossed the trouble into Baoxiang Temple.
“Damn, even the Buddha would want to curse at this.”
“I’ve seen people shift blame, but never like this.”
“What virtue or ability does our Baoxiang Temple have to deserve a follower like you?”
Now the old Abbot was caught between a rock and a hard place.
Because a Fierce Ghost of the Blood-clad level was absolutely not something a Spirit Binder could handle with ordinary means-it was extremely troublesome.
“May all Buddhas and gods manifest their power!”
Seeing the situation turn dire, the old Abbot bit his tongue, spraying blood onto the Golden Buddha at the center of the main hall.
Buddha’s light surged forth, dazzling and brilliant. The Blood-clad Ghost’s figure instantly vanished from the hall.
But the incident was far from over. The old Abbot could still sense an extremely chilling, sinister aura lingering in the Buddha Hall, and he nervously scanned his surroundings.
Blood-clad Ghosts were among the most powerful evil entities in this world-absolutely not something that could be eliminated so easily.
“Strange, where could it be hiding?” The old Abbot searched the entire Buddha Hall but still found no trace of the Blood-clad Ghost, leaving him puzzled.
He was certain the Fierce Ghost was still in the hall and had not left.
“What are you looking at?”
A ghostly voice drifted down from above. The old Abbot looked up and his face instantly turned pale.
The Fierce Ghost, clad in blood-red, hair disheveled, grinned at him with a hideous smile.
Not good!
Despair filled the old Abbot’s heart. At such close range, there was absolutely no way he could escape.
