Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Night fell.
Lian Huai finished his shower and went to bed.
Whenever his mother brought him a glass of warm milk, he would always share half with me.
There were always two pillows on his bed.
However, after he turned thirteen, I stopped sleeping in the same bed as him.
Ghosts need sleep too, but I couldn’t sleep.
Why?
Because while my body was here, my heart was elsewhere.
I was bored, swinging back and forth on the chandelier, when I accidentally caught sight of a dark mass emerging outside the window.
The shadow took on a human shape behind the curtains before slowly stepping out, greeting me with a smile.
“Hello, Xingxing.”
My nose prickled with emotion. Like seeing a long-lost relative, I rushed over and hugged her.
“Xiao Qian! You’re finally here! I’m about to be driven crazy by that brat!”
Xiao Qian was the most highly educated among my many ghost friends-a Doctor Ghost.
She was the one who told me the method for carbonizing diamonds into bone ash.
After learning about my situation, Xiao Qian looked at the sleeping Lian Huai in surprise. “This kid… he hasn’t fallen for you, has he?”
My face flushed hot. “No, it’s not… don’t, don’t talk nonsense,” I stammered.
Xiao Qian rubbed her chin, lost in thought. “I wouldn’t be so sure.”
As we spoke, Lian Huai tossed and turned on the bed.
His hand fumbled around the empty space beside him for a moment until he caught a pillow.
He pulled the pillow into his arms with a look of satisfaction, hooking a leg over it and rubbing his face against it contentedly. “Xingxing is so good,” he murmured in his sleep. “Letting me hug you today.”
A bolt of lightning seemed to crash through my brain. My mouth hung open, but I couldn’t squeeze out a single word.
Xiao Qian wore the knowing, indulgent smile of an auntie who saw right through everything.

The Ghost in the Necklace
My ex-boyfriend turned my ashes into a necklace and hung it around his son’s neck for eighteen years.
For those eighteen years, my soul remained trapped by the boy’s side.
