Chapter 17
Chapter 17
“My dad is friends with the developer. Later on, the developer had some financial troubles and ended up selling this apartment to our family. Sigh, I never imagined there was such a hidden story behind it.”
Lou Qianqian spoke as she stuffed food into her mouth, devouring three steaks and an entire roast chicken without pause.
“Lou Qianqian, you can’t eat like that. The consequences could be very serious.”
I explained to her how being possessed by the Deadly Curse would leave her physically weak. As I spoke, Lou Qianqian gasped, immediately spat out the chicken drumstick she was chewing, clutched her chest, and looked at me with a pale face.
“Master Qiao, please, don’t scare me! How serious are the consequences? Am I going to die?”
I shook my head.
“You’ll get fat.”
Lou Qianqian: …
I wasn’t joking. If she kept eating like this, Lou Qianqian would soon puff up like a balloon-her face would grow a whole size rounder, and her belly would start to show rolls of fat.
But that wasn’t even the worst of it. One morning, we woke up to find Lou Qianqian sitting alone on the balcony, eerily brushing her hair with one hand while gnawing on something with the other.
Ling Ling opened the balcony door and let out a piercing scream.
Lou Qianqian was holding a pigeon in her arms. The bird was stone-cold dead, and she had torn off a whole wing, stuffing it in her mouth and chewing. Blood was everywhere, feathers scattered all over the floor-the scene was so gruesome it looked like a crime scene.
Ling Ling kept screaming. Lou Qianqian snapped out of it, her eyes suddenly regaining focus. She glanced down at the pigeon in her hands and screamed herself. The dorm filled with a chorus of shrill soprano screams, drawing people from neighboring rooms to see what was going on.
After that, rumors spread through the whole school that Lou Qianqian was possessed.
We often left rice and nuts on the balcony, so pigeons and little birds would come visit. Lou Qianqian loved feeding the pigeons and even gave them names. Seeing the pigeon’s corpse, Lou Qianqian threw herself into Ling Ling’s arms and sobbed her heart out.
She said she was always hungry lately. That morning, when she saw the pigeon, she suddenly thought it looked delicious. An overwhelming urge to eat it took over-she couldn’t control herself at all.
“Didn’t Qiao Moyu say she knows all those mystical arts? Qianqian, why don’t you let Qiao Moyu take a look at you?”
Lou Qianqian froze, then quickly shook her head and shot me a fierce glare.
“I don’t believe in any of that. I’ll just go see a psychologist.”

Luxury cars picking me up at the school gate was a common sight. My roommate started a rumor that I had a sugar daddy, and even secretly took tons of pictures of me with middle-aged men. But not...
