After the banquet ended, the rest of the Jiang Family hurried back as well.

Brother Jiang entered with his wife and their adorable twin daughters. As soon as he walked in, he looked at President Jiang with open dissatisfaction.

“Dad, how come you’re acting just like Mom, doing this-”

“Quiet!” President Jiang snapped.

It was already eight-thirty at night. The Hai Hour was from nine to eleven p.m. According to the old saying, the Shen and Hai hours clash-two Deadly Curses fighting fiercely for survival. That moment was fast approaching.

I pulled the Cinnabar Brush from my bag and dabbed cinnabar on everyone’s wrist in the Jiang Family. Cinnabar wards off evil. If someone was possessed by the Deadly Curse, at least the cinnabar would protect their body from serious harm once the curse retreated.

“Keep your eyes on your wrists. Whoever’s cinnabar mark disappears will be the one possessed by the Deadly Curse. For now, everyone can walk freely around the first floor. If anything dangerous happens, just shout.”

A minute later, I was sitting on the sofa, completely surrounded by the Jiang Family. President Jiang was stuck to my left side, Madam Jiang clung to my right arm, the twin girls each hugged one of my legs, Jiang Keke squeezed herself between my knees, and Jiang Haoyan was behind me, holding on to my neck.

Old Madam Jiang, together with Brother Jiang and his wife, sat across from me on the opposite sofa, watching closely.

I rolled my eyes helplessly.

“How are we supposed to bait the Deadly Curse like this? You all need to spread out and check the rooms. Regroup in the living room every ten minutes.”

Brother Jiang was the boldest-or maybe just half-convinced by all this. He was the first to stand up, saying he needed to use the restroom.

He ended up being gone for more than ten minutes.

I glanced at my watch and was just about to go look for him when Brother Jiang returned. His face was damp, with a disturbing, uncanny smile.

He sat down next to the sofa and told Jiang Haoyan there was something he wanted to show him. Jiang Haoyan leaned over, but immediately turned his head, giving me a panicked, frantic look.

I glanced at Brother Jiang’s arm-his skin was pale and clean. The cinnabar mark on his wrist had vanished completely.
