“Master Qiao, I really don’t know how to thank you. The payment’s already been transferred to your card. Here, this is a recent find I brought back from Myanmar-a new style, it’s not worth much, but please take it as a little token.”

The chairman of Fengji Jewelry, Chairman Zhu, respectfully handed me a red velvet gift box. I opened it-inside lay a jade green gourd, perfectly translucent and a deep imperial green. Ice-type, premium quality-worth easily several hundred thousand yuan.

I nodded, accepted the box, and casually dropped it into my backpack.

“Drop me off at the campus gate.”

My name is Qiao Moyu, a freshman at Nanjiang University. I’m also the sole Earth Master successor of my generation.

Earth Master-in ancient times, it also meant feng shui master, but not every feng shui master could claim the title. As the saying goes: First-class Earth Masters read the stars, second-class wind masters search for water veins, third-class teachers wander the land. I got out of the car, slung my backpack over one shoulder, and stretched lazily. Chairman Zhu followed, still eager, clasping my hand warmly.

“Master Qiao, you should come visit my winery when you have time.”

“We’ll see.”

I withdrew my hand and headed for the school, sensing that the passing students were all glancing at me and whispering amongst themselves. The moment I swept my gaze over, they abruptly looked away, trying not to meet my eyes-awkward and suspicious.

I reached the door of the dorm. The room was open, and inside I heard Lou Qianqian screeching exaggeratedly:

“Look! Didn’t I tell you, and you still didn’t believe me? I know that old guy, he’s the chairman of Fengji Jewelry. His daughter goes to this university too-she’s totally shameless, hugging and clinging to him right at the campus gate! Why hasn’t the school expelled her yet?”

“Oh my god, Qianqian, where did you get that photo?”

Lou Qianqian lifted her chin proudly. “A friend snapped it at the gate and sent it to me. See? She gets dropped off by car every day, pretending her family’s ordinary, but just look at her clothes-every single item is a luxury brand! Seriously, I’m sick of sharing a dorm with someone so disgusting.”

I walked in, face dark, and tossed my backpack down. Instantly, the whole room went silent.
