Chapter 3

I lowered my head, intending to leave, but Jiang Zheng extended his leg to block my path.

“Since you’re already here, why not catch up on old times?”

I kept my eyes downcast. “There’s nothing for us to catch up on.”

“Nothing?” Jiang Zheng sneered. “I suppose that’s true. After all, even if I died right in front of you, you wouldn’t even blink.”

Jiang Zheng stared at me. His expression was as cold and detached as ever, but the veins on the side of his neck were bulging.

I looked at him and said softly, “Jiang Zheng, back then-”

“Back then? You still dare to mention back then?” Jiang Zheng interrupted me, his tone turning vicious. “Back then, I was like a fool, still holding onto hope that you might have a change of heart. I was in the hospital, waiting for you every single day. Instead, all I got was you leaving without a word.”

Jiang Zheng grabbed my wrist.

His eyes were dark and cold.

“Shen Tingwan, aren’t you afraid I’ll kill you?”

“No.” I looked up. “Jiang Zheng, you won’t.”

Jiang Zheng clearly hadn’t expected this attitude from me.

He froze for a moment, and the grip on my wrist loosened slightly.

After a long silence, he spoke through gritted teeth. “Shen Tingwan, don’t think for a second that I’d be reluctant to do it.”

“I stopped being that idiot who let you toy with him-the one who worried if you were in pain-a long time ago.”

“I know.”

“You know?” Jiang Zheng laughed out of sheer anger. “So you came here today specifically to make me miserable?”

“I didn’t,” I countered in a low voice. “If I had known you were here, I wouldn’t have come at all.”

Jiang Zheng’s face darkened, and his grip on my wrist tightened again.

“Shen Tingwan, I really want to cut you open and see if you even have a heart.”

He drew closer.

I could feel his breath on me.

In the depths of Jiang Zheng’s eyes was a madness he could barely suppress.

I struggled with all my might. “Jiang Zheng, let me go!”

Jiang Zheng ignored me.

Everything felt like an arrow pulled back to its limit, ready to snap.

Then, from behind us-

“Young Master Jiang, it’s probably not very appropriate to be manhandling my girlfriend in public, is it?”

I had been married to the heir of the Jiang Group for two years, and during that entire time, he had treated me with nothing but cold indifference.

Then, in the middle of the night, I got...
