Chapter 2
Chapter 2
“An only child? That’s impossible!”
I shook my head and tapped on my phone, pointing at the screen. “Look, this is my sister’s WeChat. She even posted two strange updates on her Moments.”
The police officer glanced at the phone, then back at me.
“Are you sure?”
Belatedly, I looked down at the screen. A bone-chilling cold shot straight to my temples!
Those two posts had vanished!
The interface on my phone wasn’t my sister’s profile at all-it was my own.
“They were just there…”
I frantically swiped through my phone, but no matter what I did, I couldn’t find my sister’s WeChat account.
“I told you, don’t let this happen again,” the officer said, giving me a cold look. “There’s no need to keep up the act.”
Sweating profusely in my panic, I begged him for one more chance.
I immediately started calling everyone I knew, trying to find someone to back me up. But they all told me the same thing-I didn’t have a sister!
Ultimately, the police dismissed it as a prank and refused to open a case.
When I returned home, my sister’s clothes, her school awards, the photos we took together… everything was gone!
It was as if the entire world had erased every trace of her existence.
Over the next few days, I searched desperately for any proof that my sister had ever existed, but each search only led to deeper despair.
For a moment, I even wondered if I had developed a mental illness. Was this “sister” just a figment of my imagination?
But the memories in my mind were too vivid, too real.
Our parents had died early in a car accident. My sister and I were raised by our grandmother until she passed away from a heart attack three years ago. Since then, my sister had been my only family.
Was all of that a lie?
I refused to believe it!
I forced myself to calm down and began to piece together every detail.
Aside from the non-existent “Duoji Village,” the most crucial pieces of information were those two posts I saw on her Moments:
[Black dogs grow white scales, the Flesh Well blinks with a thousand eyes, and humanity cannot escape Ailao Mountain!]
[Do not sever the Yin-Yang Threads!]
Though the content was cryptic, a careful study yielded useful information.
Assuming my sister did exist, she was teaching near Ailao Mountain, and her post explicitly said “humanity cannot escape Ailao Mountain.”
Two separate details pointed directly to Ailao Mountain.
Could it be… that she was trapped in those mountains?
After thinking it over, I decided to go to Yunnan myself. Even if the whole world gave up on my sister, I couldn’t give up on her.
She was my only family left.
Outside the window, the scenery shifted as the train sped into the vast darkness.
At that moment, I had no idea that the nightmare that would haunt the rest of my life had already begun to envelop me…

My sister went to Yunnan to teach as a volunteer, but shortly after, she vanished.
All she left behind was a bizarre post on her social media feed:
