Chapter 4
I laid a few more strips of palm bark on the ground and curled up inside the hollow of the tree.
Spacious enough, all things considered.
When I looked up, I saw Lu Mingshen sitting high up on the trunk, already having woven a flat platform out of vines.
He lowered his head and met my eyes.
“Not bad,” I arched a brow. “But did it ever occur to you-what if it rains?”
…
It really rained.
In the second half of the night, a fine drizzle started pattering down. I couldn’t sleep at all.
Who knew where Yu Wei and the others had gone.
I saw Lu Mingshen climb down from the tree and stand underneath it, barely sheltered from the rain.
The way he looked made me think of an awards ceremony a year ago.
The company had screwed me over, forcing me to wear an extremely revealing dress.
Lu Mingshen passed by, casually tossed me his jacket, then walked onstage wreathed in glory to receive his award.
I stared at him now and, before I knew what I was doing, said, “Do you want to come in?”
He hesitated for a moment, then walked toward me.
“Thanks.”
What had felt roomy before turned cramped with another grown man squeezed in.
We had no choice but to press right up against each other; my neck was twisted at a weird angle.
I heard Lu Mingshen murmur a quiet apology.
Before I could react,
I was forcibly rolled over. He pulled me tightly into his arms from behind, our bodies fitting together without a gap.
Only then did it get a little more comfortable.
To be fair… this really was the most comfortable position.
But the searing heat coming from behind me made it even harder to fall asleep.
Damn it.
Meanwhile, the danmaku was exploding.
“If you guys aren’t shipping this, I’m going to start shipping it…”
“Aaaaaahhh I’m shipping it so hard!”
“Shen-Lan CP! I’m officially on board!”
“The one upstairs really doesn’t have standards. You can ship even this?? Green Tea Bei, stay away from our Mingshen!”

“I have a feeling this show is going to blow up!”
“It’s already two in the morning. How are there still this many people watching…”
“Where’s that trash Li Qing? Switch the feed and let’s see.”
“Watch your mouth up there. This could all be scripted for the show. Don’t talk nonsense without evidence…”
