Chapter 13
The consequence of provoking Duan Yan was that he kept me tethered to his side.
“This looks good on you,” Duan Yan said, leaning against the doorframe. He smirked as he stared at my reflection in the mirror.
He held a leash in his hand, ensuring I stayed within a two-meter radius of him to prevent Xu Yan from stealing me away when he wasn’t looking.
Every piece of outdoor clothing I had brought with me had been confiscated by them.
The wardrobe contained nothing but pajamas.
My face burned. “Can I… can I request a change of clothes?”
Duan Yan gave the leash a gentle tug, and the force around my waist pulled me toward the door.
“Breakfast time.”
Xu Yan was already fully dressed, sitting at the table reading a newspaper.
His white shirt was buttoned all the way to the top, and his sleeves were rolled up slightly, revealing the smooth lines of his muscles.
Duan Yan was wearing a loose black T-shirt and cargo shorts.
And then there was me…
With messy hair and a disheveled nightgown, I looked like a vagrant barely covered by rags.
Xu Yan looked up at the sound of our arrival. His deep gaze fell on me, and his lips curved into a slight smile. “Come here.”
Duan Yan didn’t stop me; he let go of the leash.
I walked over barefoot and was pulled into Xu Yan’s embrace. His fingers ran through my hair with reckless abandon, as if… he were stroking a pet.
“Duan Yan will be with you today. Be a good girl and stay home.”
After a long silence, I finally spoke. “I want to go to school.”
Xu Yan looked up, his gaze piercing through his glasses as if he could see right through me. “Xianxian, don’t get any ideas. You belong to us.”
My breath hitched. I leaned in and carefully pressed my lips against his.
They were thin and cool, but when he bit back, he was like a ferocious beast.
My nerves were taut, constantly on guard in case Xu Yan decided to devour me right then and there.
Fortunately, he curled his lips in a pleased smile and reciprocated the kiss.
“Xianxian, this is the first time you’ve kissed me of your own accord.”
I caught my breath and looked at him with pleading eyes. “Professor Xu… please.”
I knew exactly what to say to make him surrender.
He agreed with an air of indifference. “Fine. Leave it to me.”
Xu Yan left after dropping that cryptic remark, leaving me alone with a jealous Duan Yan.
“Stop looking. Your husband is right here.” He yanked me toward him, the smile not reaching his eyes. “It seems Xianxian doesn’t know how to play fair. Today, I’ll teach you.”
