Chapter 10
Chapter 10
I had indeed stayed at the Older Sister Ghost’s place for quite a while. When I returned home, the Male Ghost was nowhere to be seen.
I washed my hands, tied on my apron, and skillfully cracked some eggs and chopped vegetables to start cooking noodles.
Once the noodles were ready, I turned around to find the Male Ghost already sitting primly at the dining table.
I brought a bowl over to him, and he finished it in just a few bites.
I hadn’t touched my own bowl yet, so I used my chopsticks to slide some of my portion over to him.
“No need,” the Male Ghost said. “It wasn’t even that good.”
But as soon as I finished transferring the noodles, he honestly picked up his chopsticks and started eating again.
After finishing, he wiped his mouth and suddenly said to me, “You don’t have to move out anymore.”
“Huh?” I blinked.
He looked fierce. “‘Huh’ what? Didn’t you hear me? Do you want me to say it again?”
I had heard him, of course; I just didn’t know why his attitude toward me had suddenly shifted.
But I would have to move out sooner or later. After all, there was no telling when I might suddenly kick the bucket, and I couldn’t exactly die in someone else’s house.
That night, I placed the Urn by my bedside as usual.
While I was half-asleep, that familiar chill seeped into the covers again. Knowing exactly what was happening, I lifted the blanket and looked down to see the Male Ghost.
“Are you doing this on purpose? Are you even a woman?” the Male Ghost asked through gritted teeth.
I slid further down into the bed and doubled down by wrapping my arms around his waist.
“Is this what it feels like to sleep while holding a man? Let me experience it properly before I die, okay?”
The Male Ghost was naturally cold, and seeing me like this, his entire body went stiff, refusing to move. Holding him felt even more like hugging a block of ice.
He moved to push me away immediately, but I quickly held on tighter, closing my eyes and whispering, “I’m dying soon. You saw the medicine and the hospital records I left at home, didn’t you?”
My words seemed to strike a chord, softening his heart, and he quieted down.
He actually let me keep holding him.
Perhaps it was also because I allowed him to feel the long-lost warmth of a living body.
After a while, he commanded me to let go.
“This is my dream,” I said, naturally refusing to release him.
He looked incredibly awkward. “What kind of nonsense is that? Sleeping while holding me is your dream?”
I didn’t say anything.
He spoke again. “Are you going to let go or not?”
I silenced him by pressing my lips against his.
His eyes widened in shock, and he finally fell still, no longer trying to push me away.
Just before I drifted off to sleep, I murmured to him dizzily, “You know… I used to like someone.”
After a moment of silence, the Male Ghost’s muffled voice came from above my head. “What does that have to do with me?”
I nuzzled my face against him. “Nothing. I just wanted to let you know.”
