Chapter 9
“Bai Jie, don’t think that just because you don’t say anything, we won’t be able to find out the truth!”
Officer Chen was angry again. He really was quick to show his emotions-he should learn from Officer Wu, who was standing beside him.
“Then investigate properly. Don’t let me down,” I replied provocatively.
This is a game of solving mysteries. If you reveal the answer right away, what’s the fun in that?
At this moment, Officer Wu, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke. He held up a photo, showing a fruit knife stained with blood.
“We found your sister’s blood on this knife, along with your fingerprints. You used it to commit the crime, didn’t you?”
I nodded.
He frowned, falling into deep thought.
This man looked to be in his forties, unshaven and unkempt, but his eyes were sharp, as if they could see right through a person.
“Did your sister have a boyfriend?” he asked suddenly.
My heart skipped a beat. “Why do you ask? Did you find something?”
Officer Wu didn’t answer, instead locking eyes with me. “Bai Jie, I should be the one asking you. What are you hiding?”
I lowered my head, trying to figure out the meaning behind every word.
They still hadn’t found the real answer.
“Come on, officers, work a little harder,” I said with a smile, looking up.
“We will get to the bottom of this.” With that, Officer Wu and Officer Chen left together.
Back in the cell, the TV on the wall happened to be broadcasting the news.
The commotion I caused at the university entrance had attracted a lot of public attention. A screenshot of my sister’s Weibo flashed across the screen.
The pinned photo was of her dressed as Snow White, smiling sweetly.
I used to love it when people complimented my sister’s beauty, but now, all I felt was disgust.

I held my little sister’s hand as we crossed the street.
A police officer stopped me and asked, “Whose hand are you holding?”
I glanced at the empty space behind me...
