Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Murong Rongmu suppressed the news of my death, leading the outside world to believe I had deserted.
Only Nanmen Daren knew the truth.
This was because I had been carrying a Message Talisman that day when I went to see Madam Murong.
The two brothers, Nanmen Daren and Nanmen Xiaoren, were both disciples of the Sword Talisman Sect, a martial arts sect that specialized in crafting talismans.
Rumors in the martial world claimed that the Sword Talisman Sect specialized in producing home-wreckers and adulterers. Consequently, it was classified as an evil sect, to the point that its disciples rarely dared to mention their affiliation while traveling.
In my opinion, this was absolute nonsense.
Nanmen Xiaoren, for one, was a true gentleman.
If he had been a frivolous, low-life rake, perhaps we both would still be alive right now.
After my death, Nanmen Daren was determined to avenge me.
On a dark and windy night, Murong Rongmu sat atop the roof of his bedchamber, clutching the sword that was me. He watched with a smile as Madam Murong knitted a hat for him.
Nanmen Daren approached using an Invisibility Talisman. Suddenly, he manifested out of thin air and swung his sword at Murong Rongmu.
Murong Rongmu hurriedly drew his weapon, brandishing “me” to meet Nanmen Daren’s attack.
Oh, mother of mine! Nanmen Daren’s war sword was long and heavy; it hurt like hell when it struck my body.
The two of them traded blows for dozens of rounds. Suddenly, Nanmen Daren leaped into the air, gripping his war sword with both hands and bringing it down in a mid-air cleave.
Unfazed, Murong Rongmu held my blade horizontally to parry the blow.
As I saw the oncoming edge getting closer and closer, I trembled in terror.
*Crack.*
I snapped.
Murong Rongmu hadn’t expected his weapon to break. He cursed loudly:
“Ouyang Yang! You were useless as a man when you were alive, and you’re useless as a sword now that you’re dead! Is there anything you can actually do?”
There had been no wars in Rongzhou, and in my twenty-odd years of life, I had never once stepped onto a battlefield to kill an enemy. I had also been slack in my usual training, which resulted in me developing osteoporosis at a young age.
Who would have thought this would become the turning point for revenge?
“Murong Rongmu! Give me your life!”
Taking advantage of the fact that Murong Rongmu was now weaponless, Nanmen Daren lunged forward. With a twist of his waist and a hard kick off the ground, his war sword spun through the air.
The blade flashed like frost, lopping off a fine head.
“Brother Ouyang, consider your brother here to have avenged you,”
Nanmen Daren said to me after fleeing Rongzhou under the cover of night.
“Thanks. It would be even better if you could let me out of the sword,”
I said to Nanmen Daren from my confinement within the blade.
“If I knew how to do that, my name would be Nanmen Shapeshifter,” Nanmen Daren said innocently.
“The one who tied the knot must be the one to untie it. Whoever turned you into a sword should be the one to turn you back.”
“But Murong Rongmu was just decapitated by you!”
Nanmen Daren scratched his head, using a smile to hide his embarrassment.

Slaying Evil and Vanquishing Wickedness
After I died, my bones became the sword in his hand.
Little did he know that I rarely exercised while I was alive, and I’d developed osteoporosis at a young age.
The sword...
