Chapter 9

I explained the situation in our dormitory group chat.

Me: Don’t wait up for me today. I saw a Person in the Red Top Hat, so I’m taking refuge in the duty room tonight.

Tao Ran: See if there are any souvenirs in the duty room and bring one back for me.

Me: The Dorm Supervisor said there are ghosts. How many do you want?

Tao Ran: …Uh? Take care. Goodbye.

I entered the duty room at 8:15 PM.

The Dorm Supervisor closed the door for me and then left.

I was alone in this square, cramped space, as if I had been locked in a box.

Wait… a box?

I thought of the Student Council’s Box.

The thought flashed through my mind.

No, it’s impossible…

Just then, Sun Huawen started a group call.

There was actually a signal in the duty room!

That was something I hadn’t expected.

After I picked up, the first one to speak was Zhou Yiqiang. “Brother Gu, how does it feel? If there are any pretty female ghosts in the duty room, remember to take a picture for me.”

Sun Huawen said, “Tell us the rules of the duty room. I’ll analyze them for you.”

Ignoring Zhou Yiqiang, I repeated what the Dorm Supervisor had told me to Sun Huawen.

I turned my head to look.

It wouldn’t have mattered if I hadn’t looked, but once I did, I nearly jumped out of my skin.

The person who walked in was someone I recognized-it was Tao Ran and Xiao Ze’s teacher!

The teacher who had been stuffed into a Box by the Student Council!!!

Aside from those words, I didn’t know what better way to describe my current mood.

“What’s wrong? What’s wrong?” From the sound of Zhou Yiqiang’s voice, he seemed quite excited.

“I see that teacher who was stuffed into the Box by the Student Council.”

“It’s fake. Ignore him,” Sun Huawen reminded me.

A burst of laughter came through the phone.

“Which one of you bastards is laughing? I’m suffering here, and you’re laughing?”

At the same time, there was a knocking sound at the door.

My mental state was hovering on the edge of a breakdown.

By 9:30 PM, that guy was still staring at me.

I’m begging you, go take a break. Stop staring at me! Can’t you protect your eyesight a little?

Fine, you want to look at me? Look all you want!

I can’t help it if I’m handsome.

I’ll just stop looking at you.

I turned my head and looked out the window.

And then I saw a face.

That face had no mouth or nose, only two wide-staring eyes, pressed tightly against the window, glaring at me.

Above that face was a red top hat.

The Person in the Red Top Hat!

“Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit!”

I immediately whipped my head back. This time, looking at the teacher felt much better; I even felt a slight sense of kinship.

“Pfft, hahahaha! It’s Brother Gu’s show time!”

Now I knew who had been laughing earlier-it was Zhou Yiqiang. That guy, Zhou Yiqiang, was really just asking for a beating.
