Chapter 7

There was still some time before lunch, so I planned to sit in the Library for a while, but it was packed again.

Fine. I’d sacrifice my comfort and hide in the Study Room instead.

In fact, I’d be willing to sacrifice myself for the next six days if it meant the Library stayed packed every day.

At the very least, it guaranteed that most of the people around me were normal.

I walked into the Study Room and found a random seat.

I didn’t intend to strike up a conversation with anyone; I just sat there and listened.

The Study Room was different from yesterday.

Yesterday, everyone shared what they knew unconditionally. Today, if you wanted information, you had to trade for it. Those trying to get information for free were isolated or even fed false information.

People in the Study Room were exchanging information via text messages.

What a pity. Otherwise, with my Clairaudience, I might have picked up a thing or two.

“I have inside info on the dogs. Want it?”

Dogs?

“Dogs” naturally referred to the Dog-Seers.

I looked toward the person who had spoken.

“I do. I’ll trade you for it.”

“I want a method for dealing with abnormal people.”

“That…”

“If you don’t have it, then leave. I’m not trading. I risked my life to get this info. If it weren’t for someone in my dorm having an issue, I would’ve kept this to myself until it rotted in my gut.”

A way to deal with abnormal people?

What a coincidence. I had exactly that.

I walked over and said to the guy, “Hey man, is your info reliable?”

“Definitely more reliable than yours,” he said, rolling his eyes at me.

“I have the info you want.”

“For real? I’ve asked everyone around here and no one knew. Don’t play me, or else…” He brandished a fist at me.

And just like that, I got the information regarding the dogs.

I have to say, this guy was quite honest.

He provided me with quite a few points.

[Do not make eye contact with cats. If you do, you must feed them. Those who refuse to feed them will see dogs.]

[Dog-Seers are the running dogs of the Student Council.]

[Dog-Seers are living people.]

[Dog-Seers can return to normal after assisting the Student Council in disposing of 25 people.]

[Dog-Seers can summon people from the Student Council after dark.]

[Dog-Seers only need to eat one meat bun a day.]

“This info couldn’t have been easy to get. How did you do it?” I looked at him in shock.

“I’ll tell you after I’ve tested whether your information is reliable.”

Playing mysterious, are we?

I didn’t press him further. I simply copied the contents of the text into our dorm group chat.

As soon as they saw the news about the dogs, the group chat exploded.

Tao Ran: Brother Gu, you scored so much info today. Impressive.

Xiao Ze: Is the info reliable? Even Boss Sun hasn’t figured out what’s going on with the dogs yet.

Me: I don’t know either, but it’s better than nothing.

Sun Huawen: I’ll analyze this information further.

Zhou Yiqiang: Lunch at the usual place.

I checked the time. It was indeed time for lunch.

By the time I reached the cafeteria, Tao Ran and Xiao Ze had already arrived.

“Did you guys see anything in class today?” I asked them.

Tao Ran shook his head. “Seeing that kind of thing every day would be the death of me.”

By the time I sat down with my tray, Zhou Yiqiang, Huang Pang, and Sun Huawen finally arrived.

“Any findings?” I asked Sun Huawen.

Zhou Yiqiang interjected, “Ensuring our own safety is the biggest finding. If I’m normal and you’re normal, then everyone can stay normal.”

Hiss… that actually made sense.

Halfway through the meal, my phone suddenly rang. I picked it up and saw a message from the person I had traded info with today.

The message was only four words: I used to be a dog.

He used to be a Dog-Seer?!

In other words, in less than a single day, he had returned to normal from being a Dog-Seer?

He had assisted the Student Council in disposing of 25 people…

In less than a day.

That guy was ruthless.

He was truly desperate to survive.

I showed the phone to my roommates, and everyone fell silent.

Now we could be certain that the information was correct.

“It’s dangerous after dark. Try not to stay outside after sunset,” Sun Huawen said.

[It is very dangerous outside after dark.]

After lunch, I went to the classroom for my afternoon lecture.

But this class wasn’t as easy to get through as the previous ones.

I noticed that there were a few people in the classroom who were pointlessly harassing others, trying to bait them into making a sound.

[Keep quiet in the classroom.]

Those people wanted others to break the rules.

I had a faint feeling that the difficulty of survival on the second day was ramping up compared to the first.
