Chapter 4
Chapter 4
“Will the Student Council attack us? You only saw it attack the teacher, right? It was sitting among so many students and didn’t attack any of them,” Zhou Yiqiang asked a moronic question.
“Well, if that’s how you want to think, there’s nothing I can do. I’ll help pack your things in the dorm later. You can go sleep with the Student Council. I’ll come pick you up after you pass away.” Tao Ran was the type to believe that revenge is a dish best served cold; he had finally found a chance to snap back at Zhou Yiqiang.
Sun Huawen thought for a moment and said, “Since the Student Council exists, it’s impossible for it to do nothing. I think there are two possibilities. First, the Student Council needs certain conditions to attack-for example, offending them might provide that condition. Second, the time hasn’t come yet.”
“What do you mean the time hasn’t come?” Zhou Yiqiang asked.
This time I understood what Sun Huawen meant, so I explained to Zhou Yiqiang, “It means they won’t move for the first few days. They’ll wait until the very end to strike and wipe us all out in one go.”
“We’re doomed.”
I patted Zhou Yiqiang on the shoulder to comfort him. “Don’t be so pessimistic. It’s only seven days. We just have to endure it.”
“Speaking of pessimism, Huang Pang is the worst. Lately, he’s started looking at whether coffins should have flip-top or sliding lids.”
Tao Ran chimed in, “Are there any with touchscreens? Recommend one to me.”
Hearing this, Sun Huawen couldn’t help but laugh.
[Try your best to ensure the safety of your roommates. It is not easy to survive alone.]
I suddenly realized the significance of this sentence.
Without Sun Huawen and the others, I probably wouldn’t have lasted a single day.
We all had to stay safe and leave this place alive.
After finishing dinner, it was already eight o’clock. We headed back toward the dormitory.
For the first time, I felt that the darkness was terrifying.
“Someone saw a dog! Run!”
A girl in the crowd ahead screamed, and then the crowd instantly scattered in all directions.
We started running back too, but I noticed Sun Huawen hadn’t moved.
“Sun Huawen, are you crazy? Why aren’t you running?!” I roared at him.
“You guys go first. I’m going to watch from a distance… Fortune favors the bold. I have to gather as much information as possible as quickly as I can… If something happens to me, don’t hesitate to leave me behind.”
“Bullshit! You still don’t know us after all this time? If you die, with our brains, we won’t survive a single day! I’m staying too. If we die, we die together!”
To my surprise, everyone in our dorm decided to stay. It was actually quite touching.
This time, Zhou Yiqiang provided a key piece of information.
When he was buying Coke earlier, he had seen a certain person. That person had bought meat buns.
“I watched the whole process of her buying meat buns with a look of utter confusion. I thought to myself, this girl is so small, I didn’t expect her to be so hardcore.”
After hearing Zhou Yiqiang’s words, Sun Huawen suddenly barked, “Run!”
I didn’t know why, but I just ran.
We sprinted the fifty meters back to the dorm at top speed before finally breathing a sigh of relief.
We asked Sun Huawen why he had suddenly told us to run.
“A Dog-Seer can attract the Student Council.”
As Sun Huawen’s voice fell, the temperature seemed to drop several degrees.
“But back at the cafeteria, why…” Zhou Yiqiang asked.
“I’m not sure yet.”
Currently, we only had two incomplete pieces of information.
[A Dog-Seer will eat meat buns.]
[A Dog-Seer can attract the Student Council.]
Perhaps being a Dog-Seer was also a condition for the Student Council to attack.
“Whatever! We’ll deal with everything else tomorrow! I’m not leaving this dorm until eight o’clock tomorrow morning, even if it kills me! Not only that, none of you are allowed out either. Anyone who tries to leave will have to answer to Brother Qiang!” Zhou Yiqiang locked the door and stood with his back against it, making his announcement.
Actually, such exaggeration wasn’t necessary; none of us wanted to go out anyway.
The dormitory had an en-suite bathroom, so there was no need to leave.
We stayed inside safely until past ten o’clock.
[There will be a dormitory check after 11:00 PM. Do not open the door for the person conducting the check.]
It was almost eleven.
I was more or less feeling anxious. Looking at my roommates, they were clearly just forcing a smile.
“Brother Tao, can you stop playing games? It’s almost eleven, the dormitory check is about to start!”
