Chapter 14

When it was time for the dormitory check, no one knocked on the door of our White Dormitory.

[The inspectors do not check the White Dormitory.]

Faintly, I heard that another dormitory had been compromised by a Traitor who opened the door.

Staying in the White Dormitory for the night was actually fine; as long as we didn’t speak or eat, we were safe.

In the middle of the night, I vaguely heard someone speaking to me.

“Are you asleep?”

In my dazed state, I was just about to answer when I suddenly jolted awake.

I couldn’t speak to the people inside the White Dormitory!

In the darkness, I could just make out another figure crouching beside Tao Ran, asking him if he was asleep.

That idiot Tao Ran would definitely reply!

So, before Tao Ran had a chance to answer, I directed a question at him instead: “Tao Ran, have you been secretly in love with me for three years?”

“Yeah,” Tao Ran replied.

This way, Tao Ran was technically speaking to me.

The figure crouching beside him glared at me through the darkness.

I didn’t dare sleep for the rest of the night, staying awake until dawn.

Today was the fourth day.

We in the Neutral Faction had a very important task: to figure out exactly when we should escape the school on the fifth day.

Time was running out. If we couldn’t make the most of this final day, the Neutral Faction would be completely wiped out.

I went to the restroom to look for information, while Sun Huawen went to the Study Room.

I had found information in the restroom before, so I was more familiar with it.

Sun Huawen was smart, so he was less likely to be deceived in the Study Room.

“What about us? What about us?” Zhou Yiqiang and Tao Ran looked at Sun Huawen, eyes wide with anticipation.

“You two go hide in the Library. Just make sure you stay safe.”

“What? No assignment for me? Are you looking down on me?!” Zhou Yiqiang pointed right at Sun Huawen’s nose. “Let me tell you, I love it when you look down on me!”

And so, we went our separate ways.

Ever since the dormitory had split into two factions, communication between our groups had noticeably decreased.

But there was no helping it.

After all, those with different paths cannot make plans together.

I got the feeling that Huang Pang also wanted to join the Neutral Faction, but perhaps he was too embarrassed to say it, as he never brought it up with us.

In truth, he should have been a bit braver. Sometimes, once you miss an opportunity, it’s gone forever.

However, I wouldn’t take the initiative to invite him either, because I didn’t even know if the path I was taking was the right one.

Everyone chooses their own path in life.

If I’m wrong, I won’t regret it.

I hope he won’t regret his choice either.

As soon as I reached the Library, I headed straight for the restroom.

I stayed there for half an hour, but no one tried to strike up a conversation with me.

Where was everyone? Talk to me! Is business really that slow?

I moved to a restroom on a different floor and waited for another half hour, but still, no one spoke to me.

Dejected, I returned to sit across from Zhou Yiqiang and Tao Ran.

Zhou Yiqiang gave me a sly grin.

He was even wiggling around in his seat with excitement.

What did he eat to make him so happy?

After I sat down, Zhou Yiqiang sent me a message: *I got some information.*

Me: *Not bad!*

No wonder he was so happy; he had actually contributed and was now fishing for praise.

Sun Huawen added me to a new group chat named: Neutral Faction.

In the group, I asked Zhou Yiqiang how he got the information.

Zhou Yiqiang: *Someone asked me for some tissues, so I stuffed the whole pack into his hand. Then he gave them back to me. When I opened it up, I saw there was writing on every tissue.*

Me: *And you didn’t say a word the whole time?*

Zhou Yiqiang: *Someone was just borrowing tissues, what was there to say? Should I have said I wouldn’t lend them? Am I that stingy?*

Sun Huawen: *What’s the information?*

[You can go look at the moon at four in the morning. If you’re lucky, the wolf pack will let their guard down.]

[Once there were three brothers standing in a row. The brother in the middle died, and the brothers on either side laughed. The middle brother was unhappy, so he crashed into another brother and killed him, and the last brother ran away.]

[The wolf pack is very sensitive to the smell of the food you eat. Perhaps you have a way…]

Tao Ran: What way?

Zhou Yiqiang: I don’t know, it wasn’t written on the tissues.

Me: There were only three tissues in your whole pack? What kind of scammer did you buy those from?

Zhou Yiqiang: Do you think maybe I used the rest?

Sun Huawen: Did you guys eat breakfast today?

Zhou Yiqiang: Why are you asking that?

Sun Huawen: From now on, no one is allowed to eat anything else today.

Zhou Yiqiang was the first to protest: Why? I’ll die if I don’t eat.

Sun Huawen: The wolf pack must refer to a specific danger, and the wolf pack is sensitive to the smell of our food. Since we don’t know the proper way to deal with them yet, we simply won’t eat.

Me: Brilliant.

Boss Sun really is the boss.
