Grandpa might have been a bit slow, but he wasn’t a fool; he didn’t hesitate for a second when it came to the important things.

He immediately notified my parents and called an ambulance to rush Guan Yi to the hospital.

Guan Yi and I went along for the ride.

I wanted to be close to my mom, so I flew into her hair and hid there, feeling completely content.

Guan Yi had originally been tucked into my grandpa’s jacket pocket by the old man himself.

He poked his head out, saw where I was, and flew over to squeeze in beside me.

Moths can’t make sounds, so there was no way to communicate. I had no idea what he was trying to do.

Once we reached the hospital, Guan Yi’s physical body was rushed into the emergency room.

His vital signs were indeed present. The fact that he had been issued a death certificate before was likely due to a relatively common phenomenon of suspended animation.

As long as he could be saved, I could rest easy.

It was time for me to leave.

I detached myself from the moth, letting it fly away, and manifested in my ghostly form.

In the bustling hospital, no one could see me.

My mom was busy asking the doctor about Guan Yi’s condition. I gave her a quick hug and gently plucked the little male moth from beneath her hair.

I said to Guan Yi, “Alright, you stay here from now on. Once your real body wakes up, you’ll return to it. You have to forget about all of this, and don’t mention me to anyone, okay?”

The moth stared at me quietly.

Its eyes were pitch black and shiny, and two feathery antennae stood atop its head. Looking at it for a while, it didn’t seem quite so ugly anymore.

Especially now that we were about to part, I suddenly found him rather cute.

Cradling the moth in my hands, I hid it inside a potted plant in the hospital corridor, tucking it safely behind a leaf.

“Our paths crossing was fate. You must live a good life.”

Finally, I took one last look at my parents and grandpa standing nearby. Steeling my heart against the overwhelming reluctance to leave, I stepped forward and vanished into a wall.

Back in the Underworld, the sky was its eternal, dim yellow, reminiscent of every dusk spent missing home.

I arrived at my front door just as Zhao Zhiguo drove past in his tin-can delivery truck, the engine chugging away.

“Qu Ziruo, go to the Courier Station to pick up your package!” he hollered. Then, he slammed on the gas and sped off to his next delivery location.

What had my parents offered to me this time?

I made my way to the Courier Station, where the proprietress, Aunt Zhuang, was chatting with a male ghost. She looked absolutely radiant.

“Aunt Zhuang, I’m here for a package.”

“Oh, you’re here!” Aunt Zhuang’s smile widened. She pointed at the male ghost in front of her and said, “Hurry up and take your Groom away. Don’t you dare try to return him again. Look at how handsome this young man is!”

At that moment, the male ghost, who had his back to me, turned around. He looked at me, a rare, faint smile appearing in his eyes.

It was Guan Yi, whom I had only just parted from moments ago.
