Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Word seemed to have spread that my parents had sent me a Ghost Groom; every ghost I knew along the way was watching the spectacle.
“Xiao Qu, is the wedding night happening tonight? Are you going to invite us for wedding wine?”
I shooed the big-mouthed fellow away. “Shoo, shoo! There’s nothing to see here. Stop crowding us!”
“Haha, she’s blushing! She’s blushing!”
My face did indeed feel hot.
I cleared my throat and stole a glance at the Ghost Groom’s expression, which remained as calm as still water. I tried to comfort him, saying, “It’s your first day here, so don’t be nervous. They’re just like that, but they don’t bite.”
He was incredibly tight-lipped, not even responding to my words. He always maintained a cold, melancholic air.
I began to suspect he might be a mute, or perhaps he found me repulsive and simply didn’t want to acknowledge me.
That said, he was very cooperative.
Before I picked him up from the Courier Station, he had sat there obediently waiting for me. Once I collected him, he followed me home without a word of protest.
He was like a well-behaved, sensible kindergartner.
Actually, I quite liked men who didn’t talk much.
And he was so handsome.
I was genuinely smitten.
In truth, it was good that he came. Living alone in this massive villa was honestly quite lonely.
Today, the house finally felt lively.
The place was packed with ghost friends of all sorts who had come to see my Groom.
I had no choice but to put together a few tables of wedding wine to entertain them.
The Ghost Groom stayed in the bedroom like a reserved bride, while several boy-crazy ghosts giggled and crowded the doorway to steal peeks at him.
Once everyone had their fill of food and wine, the ghosts left, and I returned to the bedroom.
The Ghost Groom didn’t seem shy at all as he reclined on my bed, propping his head up with one hand, looking listless.
“Are we doing the wedding night now?” he suddenly asked.
This was the first time he had spoken to me, and the question caught me completely off guard.
I replied bashfully, “Ah, I… I’m fine with whatever.”
“Then go take a shower first. I’ll get ready.”
