By the time I arrived at the restaurant, they had already finished ordering.
Qiao Ning was sitting right next to Ji Qing.
There was no seat for me.
When Qiao Ning saw me, she sized me up with an amused look. Then, she started barking orders.
“Go grab a chair and sit wherever!”
I took a seat as far away from them as possible.
Throughout it all, Ji Qing just watched everything with an indifferent expression. He didn’t say a single word.
Someone asked, “Qiao Qiao, we didn’t think you’d make it back this time!”
“Are you kidding? This is Ah Qing’s wedding! I’d have crawled back if I had to, just to see what kind of woman he actually ended up with!”
A few people exchanged meaningful glances.
“That’s true. The two of you have a very special relationship, after all.”
After that, they began asking Qiao Ning about her travels.
By the time the food arrived, she had finished telling stories about fishing for yellowfin tuna in the Mediterranean, hiking the Camino de Santiago in Portugal, and climbing Uluru in Australia.
The others’ eyes were shining with admiration.
“Qiao Qiao, you’re a girl! I can’t believe you dared to go to so many places!”
“Hmph, I’m not the kind of woman whose world revolves around domestic chores, a husband, and kids!
“The brave get to enjoy the world first!”
