Chapter 15
Chapter 15
That day, I lost all composure, weeping uncontrollably before my mother’s grave.
I never expected him to appear by my side in such a way.
Even less did I expect that, even now, I would still have to rely on him for comfort.
What kind of mindset must he have been in to leave those words for the shop owner?
Only I understood the true meaning behind “if she comes alone.”
It meant he was no longer by my side.
My colleague called me later that evening.
“Xiao Nie, the flight is booked for next week.”
“Who do you want to list as the beneficiary for your life insurance this time? Your husband?”
I shook my head.
“Please list Doctors Without Borders.”
“Doctors Without Borders?”
“Yes.”
“What made you think of them?”
I sniffled.
Because… he was a doctor for Doctors Without Borders.
I stumbled unsteadily out of the cemetery gates.
There, I saw an unexpected figure.
It was Ji Qing.
He was unshaven and looked haggard. When he saw me, he didn’t say a word, merely handing over a box.
Inside lay a camera, the exact same model as my mother’s.
“The original one… it really couldn’t be repaired.”
We stared at each other in silence.
I didn’t know how he had found me.
I knew even less where he had managed to find a camera that had been released back in 1994.
But the thing I cherished was already broken.
Even if he found another one exactly like it, what was the point?
Seeing that I wouldn’t take it, he rubbed his temples wearily.
“Come back with me.
“The wedding is next week, and the invitations have already been sent out. If you keep making a scene, there will be no way to fix this.”

Seeing the Starlight
On the eve of our wedding, I discovered a spreadsheet on Ji Qing’s computer.
It was filled with information about every girl he had ever dated.
In my column, it read:...
