Chapter 5

Bai Cancan and I helped Ye Tiancheng to sit down on the sofa.

“I’m fine…” Ye Tiancheng leaned back against the sofa, his face pale. “I was really careless this time. If it weren’t for Xiaoxiao, I’d be dead.”

I hurriedly asked, “What exactly happened? How did you get caught by the Eggbeater?”

Ye Tiancheng pinched the bridge of his nose, looking utterly exhausted. “I was set up. The female player you just saw, Xu Ling, she tricked me…”

It turned out that after Ye Tiancheng ran to the corner, he wanted to find a place to hide, and happened to run into Xu Ling, the female player from earlier.

Xu Ling said her boyfriend had disappeared. When she turned around to check the glass of the Candy House, it only took a moment.

“I suspected there was some kind of monster there that we couldn’t see, so I wanted to come back and tell you to take another route.”

Ye Tiancheng spoke in a calm tone: “Xu Ling said the place where her boyfriend had just stood wasn’t very safe, and wanted to take me around by a small path. I don’t really trust people I meet for the first time, especially in a dungeon. I wanted to go back the way I came, but as soon as I turned around, I was caught by the Eggbeater.”

Bai Cancan frowned after hearing this. “Didn’t you just walk that way and nothing happened? Why did something go wrong when you tried to go back?”

Ye Tiancheng said, “It’s about timing. The Eggbeater must appear at certain intervals. Xu Ling stopped me to talk just to stall for time.”

“But why would she want the Eggbeater to catch you?” I couldn’t figure it out. “Killing you doesn’t benefit her, does it? Your death won’t lower the difficulty level of this dungeon.”

Ye Tiancheng replied, “She must have made a deal with that monster. As for what she gets out of it, I think we’ll find out soon enough.”
