No one answered me.

The room was empty, containing only an old wooden bed, a sleeping bag that had been patched in several places, and a small teddy bear tucked inside the sleeping bag.

I slowly knelt down and crawled into the sleeping bag.

Nothing can stop the passage of time.

Seven years had passed, and my brother’s scent had faded until it was almost imperceptible.

Yet, the moment I closed my eyes, it felt as if I were lying in his arms again.

Back when he first came to Gangcheng to accompany me for school, we had absolutely nothing.

So, at night, my brother would sleep in a sleeping bag under the desk.

I told him to come up and squeeze onto the bed with me.

My brother refused.

He said, “I’m too tall and take up too much space. Yinyin won’t be able to sleep well.”

“We’ll move to a new place next month.”

I answered the call with a cold expression.

On the other end, his voice sounded aggrieved, carrying a hint of a sob. “Huaiyin, I’m hurt.”
