Chapter 2
Chapter 2
When I returned home, Gu Yi’an was indeed angry.
Considering it was his birthday today, I decided to coax him a little despite my exhaustion.
I sat down on the sofa and patted the spot next to me, signaling for him to come over.
Gu Yi’an refused.
He sat alone at the dining table, his thin lips pressed tightly together. The butterfly bones of his shoulder blades stretched his shirt into a beautiful curve.
His back was ramrod straight.
He practically radiated stubbornness and a refusal to yield.
“You certainly have quite the temper,”
I sighed with a smile.
“But I’ve been in meetings all day, and I’m exhausted.”
“Since it’s your birthday, I won’t hold Song Yan’s visit against you.”
“Just don’t see her again.”
At the mention of Song Yan’s name, Gu Yi’an finally reacted.
He stood up abruptly and strode over to me.
I leaned back against the sofa and looked up.
As his gaze met mine, his eyes were trembling despite his height advantage.
“Qi Huaiyin.”
His eyes were rimmed with red. “You keep those men on the side, and all of Gangcheng knows about your reputation for being a philanderer!”
“Song Yan and I are childhood friends. She just came over to the house to chat for a few minutes. What right do you have to forbid me from seeing her?”
“By the right that you, and the entire Gu Family, rely on me now.”
I finally lost my patience and kicked him in the knee.
“Kneel.”
Gu Yi’an sank to the floor.
His face was a mask of humiliation.
I pinched his chin, scrutinizing that beautiful face of his.
“Today is your twenty-fourth birthday?”
His eyelashes fluttered, but he said nothing.
“What kind of gift do you want? Do you want a divorce?”
I patted his cheek dismissively.
“With someone like you? You’re not worthy.”
As the words left my lips, I leaned forward to kiss him.
I bit and gnawed at his lips, only letting go once I tasted blood.
Gu Yi’an breathed heavily, a flush rising at the corners of his eyes-a clear sign of arousal.
I took the opportunity to step on him, offering a cryptic smile. “Don’t you hate me? Why can’t you hold yourself back so soon?”
He jerked his head up.
His Adam’s apple bobbed.
I had already let go, however, and stood up.
“I’m going to move against the Song Family,” I said, my interest waning. “Since you’re so sentimental, remember to tip off Song Yan so she can run for her life while she still can.”
Gu Yi’an looked at me in disbelief.
“Qi Huaiyin,”
He spat out every word. “You’re disgusting.”
