Chapter 67
Chapter 67
Qin Nan put on his mask.
Once the Theme Party began, even the bar’s music shifted to match the theme, adding a needless layer of tension to the air.
The dance floor was the first place to liven up.
People of all sorts, clad in various masks, were reveling in the center of the room. Qin Nan scanned the crowd; most were wearing masks resembling cats, angels, and the like. There weren’t many wearing a Vampire Mask.
Perhaps that was good news.
However, just as Qin Nan breathed a small sigh of relief, a sudden cheer erupted from the dance floor.
In the middle of the crowd, a person wearing a Vampire Mask suddenly grabbed his female companion and leaned down to bite her neck. This scene immediately sent the surrounding guests into a frenzy of cheering.
If this were the real world, Qin Nan would probably have stood by and joined in the excitement. But now, he couldn’t bring himself to cheer.
Jian Fan suddenly stood up and walked straight toward the dance floor.
After a moment of surprise, Qin Nan hurried to follow him.
Mu Xin did the same.
In an environment where everyone was masked, she had to stay close to her teammates. If they got separated, finding them again would be incredibly difficult.
Jian Fan headed directly for the center of the commotion in the dance floor-the spot that had triggered the cheering. Once he reached a point where he could see the situation clearly, he stopped.
Qin Nan and Mu Xin caught up and stood beside him.
Qin Nan’s gaze fell on the two people still locked in an embrace in the middle of the crowd, who were currently the focus of everyone’s attention.
The man in the Vampire Mask finally released his companion. Qin Nan noticed a small smear of blood on the woman’s neck, right where she had supposedly been bitten.
The woman laughed and gave him a playful shove, and then the two began swaying their bodies to the music again. The surrounding crowd was quickly swept back up in the atmosphere; the dance floor returned to its state of chaotic revelry.
Jian Fan grabbed Qin Nan and quickly retreated from the dance floor.
The three of them had entered abruptly and left just as hurriedly.
Once they were clear of the dance floor, Qin Nan spoke up, his voice uncertain. “I didn’t see that wrong, did I? That was blood on her neck, wasn’t it?”
If it were a party in reality, it would just be a game-no one would actually bite. But they were currently in a world of Vampires. The moment that thought crossed his mind, Qin Nan’s mood soured.
“That’s not all,” Jian Fan said.
Qin Nan almost wanted to tell Jian Fan to shut up. He felt that whatever Jian Fan was about to say next definitely wouldn’t be good news.
“A blood line appeared on the mask,” Jian Fan noted.
Qin Nan hadn’t noticed that detail.
“A Vampire’s revelry,” Mu Xin scoffed.
Although they had suspected it for a while, seeing it play out before their eyes was still difficult to accept.
These weren’t just ordinary people wearing Vampire Masks; beneath the masks, they were actual Vampires. They were using the Bar’s party as a cover, making others think it was just a game when, in reality, they were truly performing an Embrace on the guests.
The blood on the neck and the blood line Jian Fan mentioned on the mask were signs of a completed Embrace.
In other words, that female companion had also turned into a Vampire.
Those wearing a Vampire Mask were easy to identify, but those who had just received an Embrace-even if they had specific marks-couldn’t be identified immediately under the Bar’s lighting.
Furthermore, the fact that everyone was wearing masks meant they had no idea what these people actually looked like. Once the masks were removed, it would be a total information wipe for them.
Even if the person stood right in front of them, they wouldn’t be able to tell if they were a Vampire or not.
The game was only in its early stages. There were few Vampires, and even fewer had undergone the Embrace. However, as the game progressed, more people would be Embraced, which meant the number of Vampires would continue to grow. Given enough time, every single partygoer in this Bar would be turned into a Vampire.
Qin Nan sucked in a sharp breath at the thought.
Even if they tried their best to avoid it, what would happen when everyone else had become a Vampire? Where could they possibly run in this Bar? Even if Jian Fan had the Silver Bracelet, he could handle one or two, but could he handle a whole crowd?
If it weren’t for the fact that he only had one life, Qin Nan would have considered giving up right then and there.
“What do we do?” Qin Nan was completely out of ideas and could only look to Jian Fan for help.
Jian Fan was currently frowning, though Qin Nan couldn’t tell because of the mask.
They didn’t have much time left.
The so-called Vampire’s Carnival likely meant turning everyone present into a Vampire. A room full of Vampires would truly be a carnival in every sense of the word.
They had to find a way out before they were surrounded by Vampires.
Jian Fan didn’t have any leads yet; their information about this world was still too limited.
As the three of them discussed their options, another cheer erupted from the crowd. This time, it came from the direction of the bar counter.
There was more than one Vampire.
While this wasn’t surprising, the confirmation only made their situation more dire.
“The Surveillance Room,” Jian Fan finally decided.
Qin Nan’s eyes lit up.
Right now, the carnival belonged to the guests. The chaos wouldn’t spread to the regular Bar staff until the guests had all been turned, and the Surveillance Room would likely be even later on the list.
Furthermore, the Surveillance Room had cameras. They could gather the most information in the shortest amount of time. Not only could they find out how many Vampires there were and who had been Embraced, but they might also make other unexpected discoveries.
The three of them acted immediately.
They left the main hall of the Bar.
The carnival wasn’t just limited to the main hall; it included the Private Rooms as well. Besides, guests were always heading to the restrooms, so their departure didn’t attract much attention.
Once they were clear of the crowded areas, they began making their way toward the Surveillance Room.
However, halfway there, Qin Nan suddenly stopped. “Wait, are we overlooking something?”
“What is it?” Mu Xin asked. Jian Fan also stopped and turned to look back.
Qin Nan said with a bit of a headache, “The Surveillance Room is a good place, but if we just walk over there, won’t we be caught on Surveillance?” Every move they made was within range of the cameras. Even if the employees watching the monitors weren’t Vampires, any normal person would think the three of them were up to no good.
Wouldn’t the staff call the police? Even if they didn’t, they’d probably have a Security Guard kick them out of the Bar, right?
Jian Fan froze.
Clearly, he had also overlooked this crucial point.
Jian Fan looked up slightly, scanning the ceiling. He quickly spotted the Surveillance camera for this area.
Aside from the Surveillance Room, where else could they go?
In the entire Bar, the Private Rooms and the restrooms were likely the only places without Surveillance. No matter what they tried to do, as long as they were moving, they probably couldn’t escape the cameras.
Once again, Jian Fan felt the deep-seated malice of this world.
