Chapter 65
Chapter 65
The clock struck eight.
Outside, the Bar was already bustling with activity, and people were beginning to filter into the neighboring Private Rooms.
It was only then that Jian Fan finally made a move.
The three of them left the Private Room.
They encountered some Bar staff along the way, but no one found it unusual. With so many customers coming and going, no one paid much attention to people walking through the Corridor.
“Once your Points exceed five thousand, you will be maliciously targeted by the Realm of Death,” Jian Fan suddenly spoke up after they left the room.
Qin Nan and Mu Xin were both stunned and instinctively came to a halt.
Jian Fan continued walking forward. The two quickly snapped out of it and hurried to catch up.
“So, you were targeted before, and that’s why you deliberately spent some of your Points?” Mu Xin asked, clearly paying close attention to this detail.
Although she was also an Old Player, she had always stayed in the background to avoid overexposure. Most of the time, she simply focused on clearing the stage rather than leading the group. Consequently, her Points sat around three thousand. After the previous Murder Mystery Game world, she currently had four thousand seven hundred Points.
If she successfully cleared this world, her Points would exceed five thousand. If what Jian Fan said was true, there was a high probability she would be targeted.
Jian Fan gave a grunt of affirmation.
“When you just cross five thousand, you’ll be targeted, but the intensity isn’t too strong yet. The further you go, the more severe the targeting becomes,” Jian Fan explained. He then looked at Mu Xin. “If you’re close to five thousand, you can wait and see. You can handle the level of targeting at five thousand, but beyond that, I suggest you spend some of your Points just to be safe.”
“Until you’re certain you can handle it, keep a low profile,” Jian Fan advised her.
Mu Xin nodded, not denying her current Point total. “Alright, thank you.”
“Since you spent your Points, then it’s possible Xia Zeqin also spent his Points to save his own life. That wouldn’t be so strange, would it?” Qin Nan spoke up. Though he felt the possibility was low, he still raised the question.
He wanted an answer from Jian Fan.
“Impossible,” Jian Fan said.
Mu Xin and Qin Nan both looked at him, waiting for his explanation.
“Xia Zeqin and I entered the Realm of Death in the same world. Before meeting you, we went through seven worlds together. I received the clearance Points four times, and he received them three times. In terms of total Points, he should have a thousand fewer than me. Even counting the last two worlds, he would only have seven thousand Points. However, he has been squandering Points for at least four worlds now,” Jian Fan said.
Qin Nan frowned. “If it’s not for that reason, then why?”
Jian Fan shook his head. “I don’t know.”
Qin Nan looked at Jian Fan and fell silent.
Perhaps this was the very question Jian Fan had been unable to figure out himself.
Considering the relationship between Jian Fan and Xia Zeqin, this was likely a topic Jian Fan wasn’t very keen on discussing. Qin Nan remained silent for a moment before quietly shifting the subject away from Xia Zeqin.
“What about Professor Qi?” Qin Nan asked.
Qin Nan’s question lacked context, but Jian Fan clearly understood his meaning.
“I’m not sure, but given how much the Realm of Death is acting up lately, I estimate Professor Qi’s Points must be at least seven thousand or more,” Jian Fan answered.
Qin Nan nodded.
In other words, if things went smoothly, Professor Qi could potentially leave after cracking two more worlds. It was inevitable that the difficulty would increase.
As they spoke, the three of them returned to the Bar’s main hall.
The situation was exactly the same as yesterday.
Jian Fan looked toward the counter first. The Bartender who had mixed the Bloody Mary yesterday had not yet appeared.
“What do we do first?” Qin Nan asked. Points or no Points, those were secondary matters. The most important thing right now was to clear this world first.
They currently had three choices: stay in the Bar’s main hall, go to the utility room, or head to the Surveillance Room.
“Let’s observe first,” Jian Fan said, picking a random booth and sitting down. Qin Nan and Mu Xin naturally had no objections and followed suit.
Not long after Jian Fan sat down, Qin Weiyi appeared in the Bar’s hall with Lu Jing in tow.
Qin Weiyi quickly spotted where Jian Fan’s trio was and took the initiative to walk over.
“Meeting again,” Qin Weiyi greeted them, then took a seat nearby.
Jian Fan glanced at Qin Weiyi.
“Did you find anything else later on?” Qin Nan took the initiative to ask.
Qin Weiyi shook his head. “No. What about you?”
Qin Nan shook his head as well.
“Then it looks like we can only wait until after ten o’clock to see,” Qin Nan said, sounding a bit disappointed.
Qin Weiyi’s mindset was better than his; he smiled and said, “Perhaps you can wait and see if Qi Shuping finds anything on her end.” As he spoke, Qin Weiyi scanned the surroundings and asked, “I haven’t seen Xia Zeqin or Lin Junruo yet. Have you seen them?”
At the mention of Xia Zeqin, Qin Nan felt a wave of complicated emotions.
He really didn’t know what kind of creature that guy actually was.
Despite his inner turmoil, he didn’t show much on his face. Qin Nan simply shook his head. “Not sure. Maybe they’re hiding well, or maybe they’ve already been wiped out.”
“True.” Qin Weiyi didn’t think there was anything wrong with that possibility.
Qin Weiyi turned his gaze toward the Bar. After looking around, he said, “One of the five suspected Vampires I found yesterday has already arrived.”
Upon hearing this, Qin Nan quickly followed Qin Weiyi’s gaze.
It was the woman in the red dress who had been dancing on the dance floor yesterday.
She had changed her look today, wearing a tight-fitting midriff-baring tank top paired with tight denim shorts, her hair tied up. Yesterday she went for a sexy style; today she was going for a ‘hot girl’ vibe.
“This one can be ruled out,” Qin Weiyi said.
Qin Nan was puzzled. “Why?”
“She clearly enjoys the feeling of being watched under the spotlight on stage. Or to be more blunt, she’s looking to hook a rich guy,” Qin Weiyi said.
Qin Weiyi’s commentary was so blunt that Qin Nan had to swallow hard before finding his voice again. “If I may ask, how old are you? Are you sure you’re a minor?”
Qin Weiyi blinked at Qin Nan and said, “Actually, I’m twenty-seven. I just have a baby face.”
Knowing full well that Qin Weiyi was joking, Qin Nan replied expressionlessly, “I think the idea of you being twenty-seven is more believable than you being a minor.”
Qin Weiyi burst out laughing.
“I’ll take that as a compliment,” Qin Weiyi said with a smile.
Qin Nan sighed. “I’ve seen plenty of kids, but someone like you… I’m out.” As Qin Nan spoke, he raised both hands in a fist-and-palm salute.
“This is nothing. Why don’t you come over to my side? You might find that I’m more reliable than Jian Fan,” Qin Weiyi teased, shamelessly trying to poach him.
Jian Fan had remained silent the whole time, but hearing this, his gaze drifted over with a chilly intensity.
“Don’t want to cooperate?” Jian Fan asked curtly.
Qin Weiyi pursed his lips and didn’t pursue the topic further.
Qin Nan was amused. “This is the highlight of my life, being fought over by two big shots.”
Just as Qin Nan finished speaking, Qi Shuping’s laughter rang out from behind him as she extended an invitation: “Child, then why don’t you try joining me and being my Partner?”
Qin Nan stood up abruptly, turning to look at Qi Shuping.
Now this really was the highlight of his life.
