Chapter 60
Chapter 60
Qi Shuping had noticed the other person out of the corner of her eye long ago.
Once she successfully made her move against Wang Hao, she would naturally be exposed. If she killed one, she might still die at the hands of the other. Qi Shuping had prepared for this.
So, even as she pressed the Silver Bracelet firmly against Wang Hao’s chest, she used her body to block the other person’s line of sight. She had to ensure that the secret weapon in her hand remained hidden.
However, this time, it didn’t actually require much effort from Qi Shuping.
Wang Hao’s body quickly began to change. He withered away rapidly until only a layer of skin remained, drifting lightly to the ground. At the same moment Wang Hao vanished, the other person’s body underwent the same transformation, leaving behind nothing but a Skin Sack on the floor.
Qi Shuping’s strength failed her, and she let go. The two Silver Bracelets fell onto the empty skins.
She let out a long, heavy sigh of relief.
After listening to Qi Shuping’s explanation, Qin Nan spoke up with some confusion. “Professor Qi, there’s something I don’t quite understand.”
“Go ahead, child,” Qi Shuping said in a gentle tone.
Qin Nan continued, “The fact that Wang Hao and the other person still came looking for you after being controlled by the Vampires proves they should have had Wang Hao’s memories. So why did they seem to lack those memories when you were testing them, Professor?”
Qi Shuping smiled. “It’s simple. Their memories were incomplete. Wang Hao was a Player of the Realm of Death and had traveled through multiple worlds with me. A Vampire, however, belongs only to this world. Even if they can read memories, they are limited to the memories of this specific world. Otherwise, if a Vampire gained the full memories of multiple worlds, they would likely suffer a psychological breakdown first.”
Vampires were creatures restricted to the Bar world. Therefore, they had only read the memories Wang Hao and his group possessed after entering this world. They knew of Qi Shuping and knew that Wang Hao was part of her team.
But if they had read information about other worlds…
In the eyes of a Vampire, this was the Vampire’s world. If someone suddenly told them they were merely a part of a game world, three things could happen: the System would automatically compensate and they would lose that memory; the NPC’s data would directly crash into garbled code; or the third possibility, which was also the most terrifying.
Character awakening.
The awakening of a major boss in a Death Game-the mere thought of it was disastrous.
“Weren’t you afraid they would strike first before you could make your move, Professor?” Qin Weiyi asked.
That Qi Shuping was able to eliminate these two figures was due to her own caution, but the primary reason was that Wang Hao and his companion had actually cooperated with her.
The smile on Qi Shuping’s face remained peaceful. “It’s simple. The window of time in which they can act is between midnight and six in the morning. Shortly after they found me, they couldn’t do anything in the Bar under the watchful eyes of the crowd. Later, I brought them to the kitchen. They might have thought about acting then, but I didn’t give them the chance.”
Qi Shuping had been on guard against the two of them the entire time. Even if they had the intention, it wouldn’t have been easy to succeed given her vigilance. Soon enough, the time passed six o’clock.
As Vampires, they were no longer able to attack. In order to hunt during the following midnight, they needed to earn Qi Shuping’s trust-or at least ensure she wasn’t suspicious-so they could deal with her during their hunting hours.
Qi Shuping had utilized exactly that to make them cooperate with her.
However, there was one more thing Qi Shuping hadn’t mentioned. She cast a brief sidelong glance at Xu Tian.
Xu Tian had approached her with an ulterior motive, and this time, Qi Shuping had used her in return. Without Xu Tian taking the lead, Wang Hao and his companion likely wouldn’t have been so cooperative.
Jian Fan and the others all picked up on Qi Shuping’s unspoken implication, but no one was foolish enough to tip Xu Tian off.
“Professor Qi only acted against Wang Hao, yet the other person vanished along with him. There’s a lot to unpack there,” Qin Weiyi said, steering the conversation back to the main point.
Aside from allowing everyone to breathe a sigh of relief, Professor Qi’s elimination of the two threats, Wang Hao and his companion, had provided an exceptionally important clue.
Jian Fan remained silent. After a moment of contemplation, he suddenly looked toward Qin Nan.
Qin Nan was also deep in thought. Seeing Jian Fan look over, he paused. “Why are you looking at me?”
“I want to hear your opinion,” Jian Fan said.
Qin Nan was somewhat stunned.
A group of big shots-including the big shot among big shots-all high-IQ individuals, actually wanted to hear his opinion? Qin Nan felt like he was hallucinating.
Qin Weiyi, however, agreed with Jian Fan’s idea. “Sometimes you need more than just IQ. You need EQ and life experience.”
Their IQs might be high, but in other areas, they clearly couldn’t compare to Qin Nan.
“Then… should I say a few words?” Qin Nan felt a bit nervous.
Qi Shuping looked at Qin Nan. “I’d like to hear your thoughts as well.”
Seeing himself being called out by the ultimate big shot, Qin Nan immediately braced himself. After carefully weighing his words, he began to speak. “Based on what we know, Wang Hao was first possessed by a Vampire or had his soul controlled, and then he made a move on his companion. That’s the sequence of events. After Professor Qi killed Wang Hao, the other person also disappeared. There are two possibilities. First, Wang Hao was the Matriarch; once he died, the subordinate line he developed also vanished. The second possibility is that the two were mutually constrained-if one disappears, the other follows.”
At this point, Qin Nan paused slightly and added weakly, “I think it’s the first one. What about you guys?”
“Continue,” Jian Fan prompted.
Seeing that the others hadn’t expressed an opinion yet, Qin Nan continued, “Let’s look at the setting of a Vampire. You guys know about the Embrace, right? It’s how a Vampire creates new members. Once a Vampire performs the Embrace on a normal person, that person becomes a Vampire too. Wang Hao, if his soul was merely being controlled to do the Vampire’s bidding, shouldn’t be able to perform an Embrace. Furthermore, if only the soul is controlled, the body should still be normal and shouldn’t be harmed by silver.”
“So, my suspicion is that the Vampire summoned by Wang Hao through Bloody Mary directly took over Wang Hao’s body, causing him to become a Vampire. Afterward, he performed the Embrace on the other person. It’s likely a specific rule of this world that once Wang Hao died, the person he Embraced also vanished. Of course, it’s also possible that Wang Hao himself was Embraced by a Vampire first, but whether it was an Embrace or a possession, I don’t think that distinction matters much.”
After finishing his speculation, Qin Nan looked at the big shots cautiously. “That’s basically my take. There shouldn’t be any major flaws in it, right?”
Jian Fan looked at Qin Nan. “Your guess makes a lot of sense.”
Upon hearing this, Qin Nan’s confidence surged.
“However,” Jian Fan continued, “you overlooked one point.”
