Chapter 58

Qin Nan and his four companions arrived at the lobby ahead of Qian Xing.

“Professor Qi.” Seeing Professor Qi standing there unharmed once again, Jian Fan finally felt the tension in his chest dissipate.

Qi Shuping turned around. When she saw it was Jian Fan, the smile on her face became more genuine. “Child, you’ve arrived.”

Qin Nan and the others stepped forward.

They hadn’t seen clearly from a distance, but as they drew closer, the two unique corpses lying on the ground naturally caught their eyes.

“Holy crap!” Qin Nan was so startled his words stumbled. “What the hell are those things?”

Mu Xin also shuddered, silently leaning closer to Lu Jing. Although Lu Jing looked like a bit of a meathead, Mu Xin felt that in terms of raw combat power, he provided the greatest sense of security among everyone present.

Qin Weiyi and Jian Fan saw them as well.

“Those two from Wang Hao’s group? Is this… only the skin left?” Qin Weiyi blinked, clearly shocked by the development before him.

Jian Fan’s pupils constricted slightly, but he accepted the reality quickly. He even asked Qi Shuping calmly, “How did you do it, Professor?”

Qi Shuping reached out and pointed at two Silver Bracelets lying not far from the corpses.

“Vampires have things they fear as well. Legends and films have written about many possibilities, but I couldn’t be sure which would work. So, I simply had to try them all, one by one,” Qi Shuping said with a smile.

Qin Nan felt a chill run down his spine.

Trying them one by one, and those two didn’t even notice before the old lady turned them into this ghostly state? Qin Nan didn’t believe for a second that Qi Shuping just had good luck; this was clearly a display of superior skill.

After explaining, Qi Shuping walked forward and picked up the two Silver Bracelets. She took a handkerchief from her pocket and wiped them carefully. “These two Silver Bracelets were a golden anniversary gift from my late husband. I didn’t expect them to come in handy at a time like this.”

Qin Nan: “…”

For some reason, hearing this felt eerie. This old lady was definitely not someone to be trifled with.

After wiping the Silver Bracelets clean, Qi Shuping put them back on her wrists, seemingly indifferent to the fact that these items had just killed two grotesque creatures moments ago.

“By the way, children, did you find anything?” Qi Shuping tucked away her handkerchief and looked at Jian Fan and the others.

“In the Staff Passage behind the bar counter, we found a storage room. We suspect that someone draws blood from living humans in that room every day to supply the Vampires in the Bar at night.” Facing Qi Shuping, Jian Fan responded with exceptional detail.

Qi Shuping frowned.

At that moment, Qian Xing arrived in the Bar lobby, a few steps behind the others.

Upon hearing footsteps, Jian Fan and the others stopped talking and looked toward the source of the sound.

As soon as Qian Xing arrived, he was met by seven pairs of eyes. Being stared down by seven people gave him such a jolt that he almost turned and bolted. Fortunately, he recognized them as Players like himself just in time to avoid making a fool of himself.

“Brother Jian,” Qian Xing called out as he approached Jian Fan.

He didn’t know the others, so he didn’t pay them much mind. However, as he drew closer to Jian Fan, he naturally noticed the two skin-sack corpses on the ground. He stammered in fright for a moment, “Wha… what’s the deal? There’s… there’s nothing but skin left?”

“Where is Xia Zeqin?” Jian Fan asked.

Qian Xing finally managed to steady his nerves. “Brother Xia is with Lin Junruo.” After a pause, he added, “They’re in a Private Room.”

Jian Fan frowned.

Qin Nan didn’t think too much of it, assuming Xia Zeqin had simply chosen the same method they had. There were many private rooms in the Bar, and with all the twists and turns, it wasn’t surprising that they hadn’t run into Xia Zeqin’s group.
“Brother Jian, what’s the situation here?” Qian Xing asked, having the gall to press for answers.

Jian Fan glanced at him. “They were under the control of a Vampire. It’s been dealt with now.”

That single sentence contained far too much information for Qian Xing to process. For a moment, he didn’t even know where to start.

A world of Vampires?

Players being controlled by them?

How was it dealt with?

Qian Xing’s mind filled with questions.

“Did you find any clues?” Jian Fan asked, skipping the topic entirely.

What had already happened didn’t need to be picked apart any further. Even though Jian Fan was a little curious how Qi Shuping had managed to take down two people at the same time, this clearly wasn’t the moment to discuss it.

Qian Xing’s gaze swept over everyone.

Excluding Wang and Hao, who were already out, as well as Xia Zeqin and Lin Junruo, who were still in the Private Room flirting, all the Players were gathered here. Qian Xing wanted to cooperate with other Players, but he hadn’t planned on announcing his discoveries to the whole crowd.

How could Jian Fan not understand that? His tone cooled. “Just say it.”

“I didn’t find much, it’s just… I found some Stairs.” In the end, Qian Xing chose to keep quiet about what he’d discovered regarding the Surveillance Room. If no one else had found these Stairs, then chances were no other Player knew about the Surveillance Room either.

Jian Fan frowned.

Qin Nan asked bluntly, “There are Stairs here? So this place isn’t only one floor?”

Qian Xing shook his head. “No idea. It was pitch-black up there-I couldn’t see. I was going to go up and take a look, but then I heard a scream, so I came over.”

“Lead the way,” Jian Fan said, crisp and decisive.

Even with more people tagging along, since Jian Fan had spoken, Qian Xing nodded and moved to the front.

As Qian Xing led them to the Stairs, Qin Weiyi suddenly started acting like a little kid. He scooted up beside Qi Shuping and asked in a sweet, high-pitched voice, “Grandma, can you tell me how you dealt with those two creatures?”

Walking next to Jian Fan, Qin Nan almost stumbled at that tone.

He’d nearly forgotten Qin Weiyi really was a child.

Qi Shuping smiled. “You’re all curious, aren’t you?”

Qin Nan nodded quickly. Mu Xin and Lu Jing did too. Jian Fan didn’t respond, but his gaze had already landed on Qi Shuping.

“Then I’ll have to start from when I led them out of the Bar’s main hall,” Qi Shuping said, with no intention of hiding anything.

After confirming her suspicions through Jian Fan, Qi Shuping began thinking about what to do. Since the danger had already gathered around her, dodging it blindly would only treat the symptoms, not the cause. Besides, she’d vaguely sensed some things that couldn’t be put into words.

She didn’t show anything unusual. On the surface, she kept chatting casually with the Bartender, but in her head she rapidly ran through several plans.

She quickly settled on one and put it into action.

“It’s almost five,” Qi Shuping said suddenly.

Xu Tian looked at her, puzzled. Wang and Hao, sitting to the side, didn’t react.

“The Bar closes at six,” Qi Shuping said. She’d gotten the same information from the Bartender at her side that Qian Xing had. After saying that, she stood up. “It’s time we switch locations.”

No one noticed anything off about her. The moment Qi Shuping got up, everyone immediately followed her out.
