Chapter 10
Chapter 10
The two of them were speechless with rage.
I crooked a finger at Wei Zhao, my gaze sharp. He suppressed his fury and stormed off in a huff.
I let my eyes sweep coldly over Kangle before turning to leave as well.
Kangle let out a furious roar. “Zhao Ziyu, how exactly have I offended you? Why must you target me like this? Why did you come back? Why couldn’t you have stayed in that Buddhist temple for the rest of your life?”
Me: “…”
This was beyond ridiculous.
Did she even have the qualifications to be targeted by me?
I laughed.
“We are both princesses; we should stand on equal footing. By birth order, I am your elder, and you should address me as ‘Elder Sister.’ I spent eighteen years praying for the nation’s blessings, a service of great merit. You, a princess who has done nothing but enjoy a life of ease-what makes you think you can suppress me or look down on me? Is it the doting affection of Imperial Father and Empress Mother that gave you this delusion?”
“Kangle, since you chose to be a canary in a gilded cage, do not blame others for orchestrating your fate.”
“Accepting the marriage Imperial Father and Empress Mother have chosen for you is the best outcome you can hope for.”
At that moment, I felt a sense of balance.
It turned out that fate was fair. It gave Kangle a carefree life, but it also stripped her of the ability to soar through the skies.
In the grand game of Huajing, she didn’t even have the qualifications to enter the board.
She could only be a small boat drifting with the current, floating wherever the tide took her.
Yet, she was completely unaware of her own situation, believing she could cover the sky with one hand and do as she pleased.
However, I did envy her. She had two giant pairs of hands willing to shield her from the wind and rain, while I could only struggle bitterly in the midst of the storm.
Kangle clearly didn’t understand my warning.
Her confused, innocent eyes suddenly turned vicious.
“I don’t believe you. I don’t believe a word you say.”
“Imperial Father and Empress Mother dote on me. This time, I will definitely win against you.”
She broke into a sprint, running toward the lakeside, and then, without a moment’s hesitation, she leaped into the water.
Me: “…”
This was so damn ridiculous.
I didn’t expect Kangle to be such a lunatic!
In an instant, countless future scenarios flashed through my mind, and every single one of them led to my situation becoming even more difficult.
It seemed I was destined to take the blame for this no matter what.
Talk about rotten luck!
I rushed to the lakeside.
Someone had already jumped into the lake ahead of me-it was Wei Zhao.
Hardening my heart, I jumped in as well.
I managed to grab Kangle just before Wei Zhao could reach her.
Kangle resisted violently, clawing at me and trying to drag me down with her. She was acting out of pure malice, and her strength was unusually great.
I was dragged under several times, choking on mouthfuls of water.
If this continued, we were both going to die here.
And for a dog of a man? It wasn’t worth it!
In a fit of rage, I knocked her unconscious with a single palm strike and dragged her to the shore.
Then, taking advantage of the momentum, I delivered a sharp kick to the face of the approaching Wei Zhao, sending him flying into the deeper part of the lake.
Damn it, this dog of a man was up to no good.
Once I saw Kangle being picked up and surrounded by a crowd, I turned back and swam toward Wei Zhao.
I grabbed Wei Zhao by the collar and shoved his head ruthlessly into the water.
Wei Zhao gulped down several mouthfuls of lake water.
“Gurgle… Zhao Zi…”
“Yu… gurgle…”
“Stop…”
I held him under repeatedly. Only when it looked like he was about to lose consciousness did I yank him up by the collar and force him to face me.
“Wei Zhao, mark my words clearly. I will divorce you, but not now.”
“If you dare ruin my plans, I’ll make sure both you and Kangle go to hell.”
I dragged him onto the bank and sat there, gasping for breath. Wei Zhao looked dazed, clearly unable to comprehend what I was saying.
Kangle had already come to. She pushed aside the people surrounding her and looked at me, speaking in a weak, fragile voice as if she had summoned all her courage.
“Elder Sister, you said that if I dared to jump into the lake, you would give Ah Zhao back to me. I’ve done it. Elder Sister, please don’t break your word.”
“I beg of you, give Ah Zhao back to me.”
To hell with this!
Kangle called me “Elder Sister” for the first time just so she could frame me. This manipulative, bitchy tone was truly revolting!
Yet, she possessed such a fragile and innocent face that it made people doubt her for even a second.
Wei Zhao was clearly stunned as well. He looked at me in confusion, then back at Kangle.
I laughed.
I wiped the water droplets from my face, tossed my wet hair back, and stood up with elegant poise. With a dignified aura, I walked over to Kangle, looked down at her, and delivered a stinging slap to her face.
*Slap!*
“Kangle, you are a Princess of Great Zhou. Do not learn the petty, sniveling tricks of those lowly wretches. Do not degrade yourself.”
“This Princess dares to swear before the tablets of our ancestors that I never said such filthy things. Do you dare?”
