Chapter 3
Chapter 3
A flash of spiritual light flickered within the jade pendant, and Wei Jue’s soul was locked inside.
His physical body instantly lost its vitality, turning into a living dead man.
Daoist Wushang said that when their fated connection had run its course, Wei Jue would naturally emerge from the jade pendant. As for when that would be, it could only be left to the heavens.
Excellent!
Since it was the will of heaven, it was only fair.
Inside the jade pendant, Wei Jue’s soul regained consciousness. He clearly hadn’t figured out the situation yet, looking around blankly and trying desperately to return to his physical body.
Unfortunately, there seemed to be a barrier between him and his body; no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get back in.
I acted as if I hadn’t seen a thing, calmly and composedly directing the imperial physicians to treat the two of them.
A palace maid brought over tea and snacks.
I sipped my tea slowly, as if none of this concerned me.
Wei Jue’s soul rushed over.
“Ying Lingyue, do you have a heart? I’m dead! Aren’t you sad?”
His voice was so loud.
But I pretended not to hear him.
Seeing him exasperated yet powerless gave me a strange sense of satisfaction.
He roared for a while before finally realizing I couldn’t hear him. He glared at me coldly and then stood dejectedly beside the imperial physicians, listening to their diagnosis.
His gaze was fixed on Lu Qingshuang, filled with anxiety and pity.
Soon, Lu Qingshuang woke up.
She looked around blankly, and once she realized the situation, she couldn’t help but let out a sorrowful wail.
“Your Highness, I beg of you, you must save the Prince Consort. This humble girl begs you.”
She kowtowed repeatedly, as if she couldn’t feel the pain.
I had seen this kind of self-harming ruse many times before.
But Wei Jue clearly fell for it. His eyes reddened, as if I were the one humiliating Lu Qingshuang.
“Ying Lingyue, this is why I chose Qingshuang. She will always stand by my side unconditionally, while you only know how to bestow your favors upon me from your high and mighty position.”
So that was it.
He wanted a weak, clinging dodder flower that lived by climbing others, but the daughter of the Emperor is a proud, stubborn yew tree that does not fear the wind or cold-she would never bend her back just to cling to someone else.
I said coldly, “Over a dozen imperial physicians are doing their utmost to save him. What more are you dissatisfied with?”
Lu Qingshuang froze, her eyes turning red.
“This humble girl is not… I only…”
“You only want people to think you are deeply devoted, and to make others think This Princess is hypocritical. Miss Lu, if This Princess were truly hypocritical, would you even be awake right now?”
“I had no such intention.”
“Then why are you crying? Why are you kneeling?”
Lu Qingshuang’s face flushed. She lowered her head, stammering and unable to speak.
Wei Jue couldn’t take it anymore.
“Ying Lingyue, why must you be so aggressive? Qingshuang is clearly just worried about me.”
“…”
Fine, I’ll just consider those three years of affection as having been fed to the dogs.
Just then, an imperial physician reported, “Your Highness, this official needs to separate Miss Lu and the Prince Consort. However, the Prince Consort’s grip is too tight and his fingers have stiffened. This official cannot separate them. This…”
“Cut off the hand.”
“Huh?” The physician was slightly stunned.
I looked at Lu Qingshuang and said calmly, “Miss Lu, choose. Shall we cut off your arm, or Wei Jue’s arm?”
Lu Qingshuang’s face turned deathly pale. “Your Highness, this is no joke. How can you just cut off someone’s arm?”
Wei Jue’s face turned ashen. “How can you be so vicious? I was truly blind back then.”
I nodded and instructed the physician.
“Wei Jue is willing to risk his life for Miss Lu, yet Miss Lu is unwilling to give up an arm for him. Since that’s the case, just do your best. If he can be saved, it is his fate; if not, then his destiny has simply run its course.”
“Yes, this official obeys.”
Soon, the physicians gathered to discuss a plan.
After stopping Wei Jue’s bleeding and dressing his wounds, and administering herbal medicine, they could only wait for him to wake up naturally.
When the physicians withdrew, Lu Qingshuang panicked.
She lifted her wrist, which was still held tightly by Wei Jue, and asked anxiously, “Then what about me?”
A mocking curve touched my lips as I said indifferently, “Someone, escort Miss Lu back. Since she doesn’t trust the palace physicians, let her find her own way to make Wei Jue let go.”
Guards swarmed in and immediately carried Lu Qingshuang and Wei Jue away.
Sitting on the stretcher, Lu Qingshuang completely lost her composure.
“Your Highness, I cannot go back like this! How can I face anyone if I go back like this? I beg Your Highness for mercy!”
I smiled.
This was exactly what I wanted.
Since you dared to act so intimately with a married man, don’t blame This Princess for announcing it to the whole world!
