Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Today is my wedding day.
But the Imperial Son-in-Law has kept me waiting for half the night.
My Imperial Younger Brother, unable to stand the sight of my neglect, bestowed six beautiful men upon me to spite the man.
In my previous life, I sat gloomily with those six men all night, yet I failed to earn even a single glance from the Imperial Son-in-Law.
As it turned out, his lack of love was just that obvious.
In this life, I don’t want to wait anymore.
I choose the most alluring of the six. Looking at his breathtaking, radiant beauty, I cannot help but smile.
“You’ll do!”
The most seductive one, Xiangnu, is stunned for a moment before beaming with joy. He says haughtily to the others, “Did you hear that? All of you, leave. I am the one attending the bed tonight.”
He truly is a petty man intoxicated by success.
And yet, I happen to like it.
I remember the moment the sharp blade pierced my flesh in my past life-it was he who shielded me from the blow.
We were both hacked to death by chaotic blades, reduced to a pile of mangled flesh.
How tragic.
Seeing him now, so vivid and charming-how wonderful.
So what if he’s a bit arrogant?
This Princess allows it!
However, before we begin, I have things to do.
I stand up and walk toward the door.
Xiangnu panics. “Princess-”
He tugs at my sleeve, his eyes filled with frantic jealousy.
I understand his fear. Currently, everyone in Shangjing knows that I am infatuated with Ye Weilan.
I begged my Imperial Younger Brother to decree the marriage, forcing Ye Weilan to marry me.
But Ye Weilan does not like me. He watched coldly as I performed all sorts of ridiculous antics for him, yielding my principles step by step, only for him to collude with others to overthrow the Great Jin Dynasty.
When I was being hacked to death, he stood outside the bamboo grove, cold and detached, as if he were a mere bystander.
In that moment, my love for him vanished.
Now that I have a second chance, if he doesn’t like me, then let it be as he wishes.
I soothe Xiangnu and order him to grind ink so he can serve me while I write a letter of divorce.
He is dazed, his face full of disbelief, yet he excitedly spreads the paper and grinds the ink, terrified that I might change my mind.
As I write the letter, I ask him offhandedly, “When did you start liking This Princess?”
Xiangnu’s hand, which is grinding the ink, trembles. “This servant… I…”
“Forget it if you don’t want to say.”
“This servant fell for the Princess at first sight.”
He finishes the sentence quickly, his eyes shimmering and his red lips slightly pouted in a coy, sulky manner.
I think I must have been blind in my previous life. To ignore such a stunning creature and love a block of wood instead.
“Does the Princess not believe me?”
“I do!”
I finish the letter of divorce and pinch his soft cheek.
“Tomorrow, This Princess shall enter the palace to request a decree making you my Imperial Son-in-Law.”
“Ah!”
He is stunned, and more than a little frightened.
With a thud, he kneels on the floor.
“Princess, what has this servant done wrong? Please tell me, and I will surely change.”
I laugh and pull him up.
“Be good. Wash yourself clean and wait for me.”
I stride out and open the door.
Under the moonlight, Ye Weilan stands in the courtyard. He is clearly dressed in wedding red, yet a faint light still seems to shimmer around him, as if all the radiance of the night has gathered on his person.
He glances back at me, his eyes devoid of emotion.
His dislike is plain to see, yet in the past, I had ignored it with my burning passion.
I remember that in my previous life, I had ordered someone to invite him in, but he refused.
When word reached the palace, my Imperial Younger Brother sent me six beautiful men.
Unfortunately, those six men knelt all night, and he didn’t even bother to step inside to look at them.
Later, he called me a woman “available to any man,” unaware that I was still pure when I died.
In this life, I’ve figured it out.
I want all six beautiful men. Him? I don’t want him anymore!
I order someone to hand over the letter of divorce and turn back into the room without a word.
Xiangnu is indeed obedient. He has washed himself until he smells fragrant and is waiting for me under the covers. Seeing me enter, he happily moves to undress me.
But from outside the door, Ye Weilan’s voice rings out.
“Princess, your servant requests an audience.”
My mood is spoiled. Xiangnu grits his teeth in anger and mutters, “He wouldn’t come in when he should have, and now he’s intruding when he shouldn’t. How annoying!”
I let out a soft laugh. “He is indeed quite annoying. Tell him to get lost.”
Xiangnu’s eyes light up.
Barefoot and with his hair flowing loose, he opens the door and says haughtily to Ye Weilan, “The Princess asks Master Ye to get lost.”
Having said his piece, he quickly shuts the door and returns to my bedside, looking uneasy.
He probably realized belatedly that he had overstepped.
I pull him toward me and kiss him gently.
“Well done.”
This Princess permits your arrogance!
