Chapter 5
Chapter 5
When Jiang Tingyu entered the room, the lively atmosphere froze for a split second.
Cheng Yuming’s gaze swept over her with casual indifference for a moment before shifting back, acting as if no one else were there.
It was obvious to everyone that they were still in the middle of a cold war.
Surprisingly, it was Su Miao who spoke up first, her voice sweet as honey. “Sister-in-law, I finally get to meet you!”
After speaking, she tugged on Cheng Yuming’s sleeve and said with a playful pout, “Brother Yu, what are you doing? Your girlfriend is here and you didn’t even go to meet her.”
Only then did Cheng Yuming slowly stand up. His brow furrowed slightly when he saw me standing behind Jiang Tingyu. “You two…”
“I saw Junior Jiang being blocked outside when I went out for some air,” I said, shaking the rainwater off the tip of my umbrella. “So I brought her in.”
Cheng Yuming’s frown deepened. “If you were blocked outside, why didn’t you call-”
He cut himself off.
Likely remembering the call he had personally declined, a flash of awkwardness crossed Cheng Yuming’s face.
He fell silent for a few seconds before his tone softened. “I didn’t see clearly that it was you calling just now, so I didn’t pick up.”
Su Miao stepped forward. “That’s right, Sister-in-law. Brother Yu has been so restless every day since you two had that fight, so he probably just missed your call. Please don’t blame him.”
Jiang Tingyu watched the two of them quietly.
“I apologize to you too,” Su Miao said, pressing her hands together in a gesture of prayer. “But you really misunderstood Brother Yu and me. He just sees me as a younger sister; we’ve been close since we were kids.”
Jiang Tingyu finally moved.
She shook her head, her tone as calm as usual. “It’s fine. I don’t mind, and there was no misunderstanding.”
Seeing this, Cheng Yuming’s eyes narrowed slightly, and his tone turned flippant again. He stepped forward to wrap an arm around Jiang Tingyu. “How is my baby so understanding? Come on, let me introduce you to my brothers.”
However, Jiang Tingyu held up the gift bag in her hand, dodging Cheng Yuming’s touch. “Happy birthday.”
She had held the gift bag tightly against her chest before arriving; not a single drop of rain had touched it. It was perfectly clean.
Cheng Yuming didn’t pay the gift the slightest bit of attention. His smile faded slightly, likely sensing her attitude from the way she had pulled away.
He said, “Baby, my friends are all here today. You need to give me some face later.”
His tone left no room for argument; it was a command, not a request.

Premeditated
This was the seventeenth time I’d run into my roommate Cheng Yuming’s girlfriend on my way downstairs.
As was her habit, she pulled a plump orange from her bag and offered it to...
