Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Cheng Yuming’s birthday party was held at his family’s villa.
When I walked in, a sweet-looking young girl in a crop top and hot pants was clinging to Cheng Yuming’s arm, smiling brightly. She was the center of attention, acting for all the world like the lady of the house.
Her gaze landed on me.
Su Miao paused mid-sentence. “Brother Yu, who is he?”
Cheng Yuming raised an eyebrow, his tone casual. “My roommate from the bunk across from mine.”
Then he looked at me, sounding a bit surprised. “I didn’t think you’d actually show up today.”
My other two roommates’ eyes lit up, and they greeted me enthusiastically. “Brother Lu! Brother Lu!”
I didn’t really listen to what they were saying. I simply nodded and handed the gift in my hand to Cheng Yuming.
My gaze swept across the crowd sitting around the room.
She wasn’t there.
Su Miao stared at me for a moment before intimately shaking Cheng Yuming’s arm. “Brother Yu, I didn’t know you had such a super handsome guy in your dorm. That’s not fair-why didn’t you introduce us?”
Cheng Yuming’s expression shifted.
There was a hint of displeasure in his voice. “What? Are you really looking to start dating? Didn’t you say last time that you wanted to stay by my side as my little sister forever?”
Su Miao stuck her tongue out. “I’d love to, but your girlfriend would definitely mind. Didn’t Sister Tingyu have that huge fight with you last time because of me…?”
A flicker of irritation crossed Cheng Yuming’s face. “Don’t worry about her.”
Su Miao suddenly looked aggrieved. “That won’t do. I don’t want to affect your relationship.”
With that, she took the initiative to walk over to me and held out her hand. “What’s your name?”
A cloyingly sweet scent of perfume hit my nose.
I took a step back, putting distance between us.
Her smile froze on her face instantly. She bit her lip, looking hurt. “Did I do something to offend you?”
Clumsy acting.
I looked at her coldly. “Do I know you?”
Su Miao’s eyes immediately welled up with tears. She grabbed the hem of Cheng Yuming’s shirt and huddled into his chest.
Cheng Yuming wrapped an arm around her waist, his tone full of annoyance. “Lu Guanlan, Miaomiao is a girl after all. You…”
His eyes flashed with a sharp, confrontational hostility. Before he could finish his sentence, his phone suddenly rang.
Cheng Yuming glanced at it and pressed decline.
The other person didn’t call back.
Outside, it was pouring rain. The sky was so dark and gloomy it looked as if half a bottle of ink had been spilled across it.
I suddenly had a strange premonition.
My phone vibrated.
Jiang Tingyu: Senior Lu, have you arrived yet?
“Jiang Tingyu unsent a message.”
I turned around, ignoring Cheng Yuming and Su Miao. Dropping a curt “I’m going out for some air,” I pushed the door open and left.

Premeditated
This was the seventeenth time I’d run into my roommate Cheng Yuming’s girlfriend on my way downstairs.
As was her habit, she pulled a plump orange from her bag and offered it to...
