Chapter 9
I looked up. “I’m leaving. I’ve spent your money all these years. Once I can earn my own money, I’ll pay you back as soon as possible. After that, we’ll have nothing to do with each other ever again.”
When I said this, everyone happened to be present.
Mr. He looked a little angry, but still held back and said, “We’re family. How can you say something like that?”
“Family?” I found it a little ridiculous. “Only you are a family. Wasn’t it you who helped reduce Shen Hang’s sentence? When you did all that, what did you take me for?”
Mr. He said with a cold face, “We were wrong about that. But how long has it been? Let bygones be bygones. It’s not easy for the family to have some peace, don’t make a scene.”
I said each word clearly: “I can’t let it go. I hate you. I will never forgive you.”
After that, I pulled my suitcase and left.

He said, “It’s very late now.”
“Let her go,” Mr. He said, his tone unreadable. “If you can so casually threaten people with a knife, is that what you were taught at home? I think you shouldn’t come back until you’ve reflected on yourself.”
“Are you all crazy?” He Wei rarely lost his temper. It was one of the few times I’d seen him speak up for me. “She’s not even an adult yet. Where do you expect her to go?”
But I wasn’t moved.
I shook off his hand, and the pain made him frown instinctively.
But I didn’t look back.
I was gone for six years.

Our Final Spring
The day I found out I had cancer.
He Wei frowned and said coldly to me, “Do you think anyone would be sad if you died? No one would feel bad about it.”
I said,...
