Chapter 8
When I returned to the He Family, He Yu was in her room.
Seeing me come in, she even smiled at me unguardedly. “Sister, what brings you here?”
I walked over, pressed a knife to He Yu’s neck, and questioned her in agony, “Why did you do this! Why did you do this to me! What right do you have to hate me so much!”
I never really intended to kill her; I was just in too much pain, just desperate for an answer.
People quickly gathered around. Some wanted to stop me, but no one dared to step forward.
In the midst of the chaos, He Wei rushed over and snatched the knife away.
The sharp blade grazed both our palms, leaving a swath of fresh blood.
Crying, He Yu said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know he would kill someone. I just wanted him to teach you a lesson. I didn’t expect, didn’t expect…”
But didn’t expect what?
Didn’t expect that man would be driven by lust.
Didn’t expect my brother to show up.
Didn’t expect my brother to die because of me.
Just as I didn’t expect that all of them knew the whole story, yet kept me in the dark.
He Wei barked, his fierceness masking his weakness, “What are you losing your mind over now?”
I stared at him fixedly, letting the blood drip from my hand onto the floor.
Perhaps it was my unfamiliar gaze that startled him. He Wei took a deep breath and tried to pull me away. “Go take care of your wound.”
But I retreated faster than he could reach me.
Then, in a fit of rage, I haphazardly packed the few things I had at the He Family.
I couldn’t be bothered to bandage my wounded hand, and cut myself a few more times while packing.
While I did all this, He Wei was right there. At first, he watched coldly, but eventually couldn’t stand it anymore and stopped me:
“Who are you putting on this act for?”
I wasn’t putting on an act for anyone-no one cared anyway.
He Yu’s crying was making me irritable. “Sister, why don’t you hit me, or stab me with the knife if you want. I’m sorry, sister.”
How hypocritical she was.
She clearly knew I would never stab her with a knife.

Our Final Spring
The day I found out I had cancer.
He Wei frowned and said coldly to me, “Do you think anyone would be sad if you died? No one would feel bad about it.”
I said,...
