Chapter 50
He Wei sat in silence all night. Only when he finally heard a sound very late did he cover his eyes with his hand and begin to cry.
Tears slipped through his fingers, dripping onto the ground and pooling into a small lake.
Early the next morning, he asked his assistant to buy some food.
There were still many things waiting for him. He could not collapse.
Many people came to Jiang Yu’s funeral. But all of them had been notified by Fu Ziyi.
Only then did he realize that he truly knew nothing about her life.
Fu Ziyi’s parents also came.
The Fu Family and the He Family had always been close. If not for a single impulsive decision by his mother, they should have grown up together since childhood.
He saw Aunt Fu gently stroke Fu Ziyi’s face, speaking softly to him.
Fu Ziyi’s eyes turned red. He lowered his head, hugged his mother, and only then, with his head resting on her shoulder, did he finally begin to cry, muffled and quiet.
People kept stopping in front of Jiang Yu’s coffin, then walked away with sorrowful expressions.
They couldn’t understand why she would choose to end her life.
At first, He Wei didn’t understand either.
She had friends, like-minded companions, people she cared about. Her work was going well, she had a bright future ahead of her.
Why would she still want to die?
Later, He Wei saw again the girl he had seen on Jiang Yu’s birthday.
Xu Zhiyi simply offered her condolences, then looked at them expressionlessly and said, “I hope this time you can also end things with a clear conscience, and then begin your great new lives.”
He Wei didn’t understand what she meant.
Before her death, Jiang Yu left a will.
Her arrangements were simple. Most of her estate was left to her mother, divided into two shares-one for Jiang Qi, one for herself.
A portion was given to the He Family, to repay their kindness in raising her.
The rest was left to Fu Ziyi.
When Lawyer Miss was about to leave, she said, “There’s one more thing. She wanted her Kitten to be entrusted to Mr. Fu. But she said this didn’t need to be written into the contract.”
He Wei thought again of the way she smiled, her eyes curved in delight, that day.
Lawyer Miss handed him a package. Inside was the money he had given her during the years after she left the He Family.
She hadn’t spent a single cent. She returned it all, neat and untouched.
It was as if she didn’t even want the slightest connection with him.

Our Final Spring
The day I found out I had cancer.
He Wei frowned and said coldly to me, “Do you think anyone would be sad if you died? No one would feel bad about it.”
I said,...
