Chapter 23
When I noticed someone following me up the stairs, I thought it was He Wei.
A bit impatient, I turned around to shoo him away.
But unexpectedly, I saw Fu Ziyi, who had come back.
He was wearing a black coat, his features clear, holding a bag of medicine in his hand.
The stairwell lighting was harsh and pale, casting a cold light on him.
He didn’t seem to have any intention of coming back with me, just handed me the medicine: “Go home early, it’s cold outside.”
If I had been attentive enough, I would have noticed that this bag was filled with all the medicine the doctor prescribed me that day.
But in reality, I didn’t.
I took the medicine and walked a couple of steps forward.
Suddenly, I turned back and called his name: “Fu Ziyi.
I’m on your side.”
He seemed to understand my implication.
Fu Ziyi stood there steadily, looking up at me, and smiled gently: “I’ll always be on your side.”
The next day, after sending Zhiyi off, I returned to the law firm to finish up my previous handover work.
The day after my diagnosis, I submitted my resignation.
My supervisor was a bit regretful at first and tried to persuade me.
But I hadn’t hidden my illness from him.
Once he knew, he didn’t say anything more, approved it immediately, and told me to finish the handover as soon as possible and go home to recover.
I didn’t say anything to dampen the mood, like that I was already planning to die; I simply agreed.
The handover went quickly, and my colleagues were very cooperative.
Only the last case remained, which required me to appear in court for the defense.
Everything went smoothly.
But after the final hearing, there was a small problem.
I just squatted down to talk to my client’s five-year-old daughter for a while.
When I stood up again, I felt a bit dizzy.
Su Ni supported me; we had been chatting and laughing, but her voice suddenly stopped.
It was as if something had dropped to the ground.
I heard Su Ni’s anxious voice: “Jiang Yu! What’s wrong with you?”

Our Final Spring
The day I found out I had cancer.
He Wei frowned and said coldly to me, “Do you think anyone would be sad if you died? No one would feel bad about it.”
I said,...
