chapter 23
Seeing that I hadn’t moved, he grew a little annoyed.
“Do you realize what time it is? And you’re still daydreaming here? If the killer from 502 comes up in a moment, I can’t guarantee your door will hold.”
His right hand was just about to reach forward, but in the next second-
a sharp knife plunged into his heart.
“You don’t know if he’s dead or not, but I know. He’s dead. You killed him.”
He stared at me, eyes full of disbelief.
He didn’t even have time to speak before the blood at the spot where I had stabbed through his chest instantly spread.
I pulled the knife out and stepped on him.
I watched as he fell, bit by bit.
I crouched beside him.
As if admiring a piece of prey.
“Normally I don’t choose to wash my hair or shower at ten or eleven at night-it’s too late, and if I don’t blow-dry my hair, it’ll never dry. Look, my hair is all frizzy. I really don’t want to blow-dry it.”
The rubber gloves loosely covering my hands were meant to hide my fingerprints.
The man on the ground struggled to get up.
“What are you talking about, you lunatic.”
I ignored him and continued:
“It’s a shame. Both my clothes and hair got stained with blood tonight.
“You can smell it, can’t you? That stink. Just thinking about it makes me want to puke.”
I glanced around, then pulled out a set of bloodstained clothes and pants from under the sink.
That’s where I had hidden them.
“Oh right, I told you about that murder at Chengxi Market, didn’t I? Tsk tsk, it was terrifying-so brutal.
“Did you know? One of them was killed by me.”
At this, he seemed to perk up with interest.
His eyes were wide open.
I teased the man on the ground.
“The other two were killed by you, weren’t they? I really should thank you. You gave me such a good opportunity. Otherwise, I’d never have gotten the chance to kill that scumbag.”
