Chapter 5
The disciples had all gathered. With a slight wave of Master’s hand, the figure slowly rose into the air, her black hair cascading like a waterfall, her silhouette graceful and slender.
Master closed his eyes and began to cast a spell. Spiritual energy surged around him, pouring entirely into the woman’s body like a hundred rivers returning to the sea.
Taking in the scene, Fifth Junior Sister couldn’t help but sigh. “She really looks like a Female Lead.”
Fourth Junior Sister gave her a sharp poke, and Fifth Junior Sister fell silent.
I pretended not to hear or see anything.
The woman seemed to be on the verge of waking. Without waiting for Master to act, I flew up from the crowd and carried her back to Master’s side.
Master looked at her with a steady gaze. “I will take her as my disciple.”
Sixth Junior Sister’s earlobes twitched slightly as she slowly opened her eyes and saw me.
Her eyes were shimmering with emotion. “Did Senior Sister save me?”
As I held Sixth Junior Sister, I felt like I was holding a hot potato.
Master leaned in and pointed at himself. “It was I who saved you.”
Sixth Junior Sister’s expression remained indifferent; she simply shrank further into my arms.
Master looked displeased.
Sixth Junior Sister truly lived up to her reputation as a prodigy. Despite her nearly crippled body, she only needed a month of rest for her bones and muscles to fully knit back together.
As soon as Master heard she could walk, he dragged her off to practice swordplay day and night without rest.
Sixth Junior Sister tried to hide several times, but Master always managed to find her, refusing to let her slack off for a moment.
It was currently the peak of midsummer, the hottest time of the year.
Second Junior Sister, Third Junior Sister, and I were holding chilled watermelons when we saw Master hauling Sixth Junior Sister away yet again.
I scooped out a spoonful of watermelon. “Has Master suddenly awakened a desire to nurture talent?”
Second Junior Sister remarked, “At Sixth Junior Sister’s cultivation speed, I’m afraid Eldest Senior Sister’s position is in jeopardy.”
I looked up. “Which position are you talking about?”
Third Junior Sister replied, “Second Junior Sister obviously means the position of the Sect’s First Disciple. What did you think?”
The position of Eldest Senior Sister wasn’t determined by who arrived first.
Back then, I had earned my title by defeating everyone else in the Sect through sheer martial prowess.
Three months later, having made some progress in her cultivation, Sixth Junior Sister followed tradition and challenged the other disciples.
Her swordplay had been personally refined by Master; it was fast, precise, and utterly ruthless.
Seeing my four junior sisters all fall in defeat, I finally stopped eating watermelon and summoned the Qingzun Sword.
It seemed I needed to give my little junior sister a proper lesson.
To my surprise, Sixth Junior Sister simply gave me a beaming smile and conceded immediately.
The four junior sisters scrambled up from the ground and shouted in unison, “Eldest Senior Sister, hit her!”
Sixth Junior Sister suddenly pressed close to me, clutching my robes as she wiped away tears. “Eldest Senior Sister, do the four other sisters dislike me?”
The four junior sisters’ faces darkened.
Third Junior Sister especially muttered, “I hate people who are more of a ‘green tea’ bitch than I am.”
Master strolled over and pulled Sixth Junior Sister to his side. “Come cry over here.”
Sixth Junior Sister couldn’t retreat in time and was pulled so hard she fell flat on her bottom. Blushing, she reached out a hand.
“Eldest Senior Sister, can you pull me up?”
Master was startled. “I’ll do it, I’ll do it!”
I beat him to it and pulled Sixth Junior Sister up.
Fifth Junior Sister and Second Junior Sister whispered to each other, “Do you think the three of them are even following the same script?”
Fourth Junior Sister said flatly, “I ship Sixth Junior Sister and Eldest Senior Sister.”
I turned my head and made a face at them. “You guys are enjoying the show, but have you considered the feelings of the people involved?”
When I looked back, Master had already walked far away with Sixth Junior Sister. I had long heard rumors that Master and Sixth Junior Sister were inseparable, always appearing together as a pair.
But hearing about it was nothing compared to seeing it.
The four junior sisters limped over. “Eldest Senior Sister, stop looking. Let’s go get a drink.”
We drank every last drop of wine the tavern at the foot of the mountain had in stock. All five of us ended up dead drunk.
Master and Sixth Junior Sister came down the mountain to fetch us.
In my dazed state, I felt Sixth Junior Sister and Master both pulling at me-and in different directions, no less.
I shook my arms free and tumbled into someone’s embrace. It was Master.
Master carried me as he rode a cloud through the air, the wind whistling past my ears.
I struggled to open my eyes. “Master, did you find the Female Lead?”
Master froze.
A voice suddenly spoke from the side: “Host, we’ve been exposed.”
I grinned and laughed. “You must be the System.”
“It’s over! She can hear me. Holy crap, I’ve had the speaker on this whole time!”
