Xu Sen and I began a cold war.

But this time, his attitude seemed unusually resolute. He didn’t care about my emotions during pregnancy, showing no intention of backing down or softening at all.

Guan Feng, on the other hand, comforted me.

“Sis, don’t blame Brother-in-law. He’s new at the company, so he must be facing difficulties. I’m young anyway, and it won’t hurt to get some experience at another company.”

“My aunt told me you’re Mrs. Xu, so I came over to say hello. I’m one of his employees.”

I asked politely,

“Hello, which department are you in?”

He replied with a smile,

“I’m one of the newly recruited batch, still an intern. I really have to thank Xu Sen this time. The company never hires non-fresh graduates, but if my aunt hadn’t asked him to make an exception for me, I wouldn’t have had any chance at all.”

“…”

I lowered my eyes and didn’t speak for a long while.

Shen Rou spoke softly,

“One day, Cheng Hu and I will invite you and Brother Sen out for dinner, just the four of us. Would that be alright, Sister-in-law?”

A layer of white grease had formed on the soup bowl on the table, making it dull and nauseating.

I slowly looked up and let out a laugh.

“Sure.”
