After remote work ended, Li Ru returned to the company and resumed her usual work routine, and Cheng He also stopped going on business trips every other day.

The day Cheng He came home, I opened the door and sprayed him with a bottle of alcohol.

He frowned, suppressing the anger in his eyes, and forced a smile. “Don’t make a fuss, Weiwei. Let me in first.”

I blocked the door, refusing to let go. “No way. You just got back and want to come in? Who knows what dirty things you brought with you. You need to disinfect properly first.”

Cheng He was speechless, turning in circles until I finished spraying him with alcohol before entering the house.

Once inside, he opened his arms to hug me, but I pretended not to notice and sidestepped him.

I really couldn’t stand this disgust.

“I’ve been away on business for so long. Did you miss me?”

Cheng He grinned, “My mind was full of you.”

I looked at him with an ambiguous smile. “Is that so? Well, I’m truly delighted.”

At night, I sent Cheng He to sleep in the study, using work as an excuse. He didn’t suspect anything; in his mind, I’m a workaholic, and it’s possible I’d do anything for work.

The next day, the entire department was finally able to welcome Li Ru back to the office, something everyone had been waiting for.

Even when going to the restroom, people would detour past Li Ru’s desk just to take a look at her.

Li Ru was at a loss, and ended up fixing her hair eighteen times that morning.

Not only that, the colleagues around Li Ru became busier, and at lunch, she was left alone at her desk with no one inviting her.

Her workload became messy and chaotic, and the team leader started speaking to her harshly.

In the workplace, no one is willing to offend me for the sake of an intern, especially one who is a despised homewrecker.

After a day of torment and being scolded three times, Li Ru hid in the stairwell after work, crying on the phone.

Unsurprisingly, the person she was complaining to was probably my husband.

“Manager Song must have it out for me. She must be jealous of my youth and beauty.”

I don’t know what Cheng He said on the other end, but Li Ru broke into a smile through her tears:

“Anyway, I’m still young. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future.”

Standing silently behind the fire door, I curled my lips. With your ability to even mess up copy-paste, you might never get an opportunity in your life.

“Ahem.”

I raised my voice and coughed slightly, signaling that someone was behind the door.

Li Ru’s expression instantly turned panicked. She hurriedly turned around and saw me standing behind the half-open door, wearing a half-smile.

Her face changed dramatically, looking as if she’d swallowed a fly. She stammered, “Manager-Manager Song-”

I looked down at her coldly, without any emotion:

“I don’t comment on personal matters during private time, but it’s best not to gossip about colleagues.

“If you have any complaints about me, the company has a comprehensive complaint mechanism. Of course, I’m not directly responsible for your work results. If I had to arrange every intern’s work, our department wouldn’t need to exist.”

Her face turned pale, her eyes flustered. She tried to explain but didn’t know how much I’d heard. Her hand holding the phone hung down, and I could see the call was still connected.

“If you put more effort into your work, you wouldn’t have to cry in the stairwell.”

With that, I didn’t spare Li Ru another glance and turned to leave.

I had come out on purpose to interrupt Li Ru. Only by making her feel threatened would she desperately cling to Cheng He.

And that would give me more time to catch Cheng He’s mistakes.

During an online meeting, the new intern accidentally turned on her camera.

Just as I was about to remind her, her boyfriend appeared on screen.

Oh, isn’t that my husband...
