chapter 2
After getting everything in order, I made a video call to Cheng He.
He took quite a while to answer, then put on a show and said,
“Honey, I was just busy with work and didn’t see my phone.”
Busy with work, or busy getting dressed?
On the other side of the video, Cheng He was sitting on the sofa, the curtain beside him trembling slightly.
I pretended not to notice anything and smiled, “Cheng He, the curtain behind you looks nice. Turn your phone around and show it to me.”
Cheng He’s expression tightened, and he visibly panicked.
Tsk, I questioned my own intelligence again-how did I only notice such terrible acting today?
“What’s so nice about a curtain?”
“Just turn it around and let me have a look.”
There wasn’t much space behind the sofa, so if someone wanted to avoid my sight, they’d have to crawl out on their knees. A small payback, nothing much.
Cheng He hesitated and slowly turned the phone, and the curtain shook even more.
“Why are you so slow? Is someone hiding behind the curtain?”
Cheng He’s face froze. “What nonsense are you talking about? You’re the only one in my heart.”
I curled my lips with an ambiguous smile, said nothing, and just gave Cheng He a meaningful look.
I didn’t plan to confront Cheng He today-I just wanted to test his reaction.
It seemed he wasn’t ready to be exposed yet.
After our marriage, Cheng He and I had accumulated quite a bit of wealth, but most of it came from my investments and income. Cheng He was just an ordinary employee, and all our properties were my premarital assets.
Of course, I was going to divorce him, but it had to be carefully planned. He wouldn’t get a single cent from me.
Not only that, I wanted him to pay back double everything he’d gained from me over the years.
After hanging up the video call, I called my Lawyer friend to ask her what the best solution was right now.
Before marriage, to prove he wasn’t after my money, Cheng He had very considerately suggested a property notarization, so there was no dispute over the ownership of my real estate.
But my salary, stock income, and dividends were all considered marital property. If we divorced, I didn’t want Cheng He to get a single penny.
While Cheng He was flirting with Li Ru, I started handling my assets.
But simply transferring my assets wasn’t enough-I was determined to make Cheng He pay the price for betraying me.
