chapter 9
I drove home, feeling as if a stone was lodged in my heart.
“Have your parents always liked to control you since you were young?”
Xu Mo nodded lightly. “I’m used to it. It’s just that when their opinions differ, I end up suffering.”
He said it casually, but I knew it hurt.
Was Xu Mo’s disappearance really related to me?
I couldn’t remember.
Otherwise, why would his parents hate me so much?
After I got home.
I tried to probe for the truth: “I can help you find the body. After all, if alive, we need to see the person; if dead, we need to see the corpse.”
Xu Mo thanked me.
It felt strange. It seemed like our relationship was deep enough that he shouldn’t have to say thank you, but we had broken up.
Both close and distant.
This kind of feeling is hard to grasp.
Why is it like this?
I asked Xu Mo, “Why did we break up?”
I couldn’t remember, and he had also forgotten the past.
I suggested, “Let’s go to the Police Station first. The police have been investigating for so many years; they must have a lot of clues.”
Xu Mo immediately agreed.
I found the police officer who was in charge of the missing person case back then.
As soon as he saw me, he greeted me, “It’s you.”
I was quite surprised. “You know me?”
He smiled and asked back, “Wasn’t it you who reported Xu Mo’s disappearance?”

In the dimly lit bathroom, he was unbelievably obedient.
