Chapter 3
Back home, it took me just two hours to pack my bags.
Pei Yu chased me for a year, but we’d only been together a few months; I didn’t have much stuff here.
I checked my bank balance, biting my finger in worry.
Only a little over a million yuan left—am I going back to being poor?
I glanced back at the luxury jewelry and bags, heart aching as I dragged my suitcase out.
Pei Yu thinks my brain’s all about money, but he doesn’t get it: I won’t spend just anyone’s money.
I’ve had suitors lining up from here to France—or at least Italy.
If I didn’t like Pei Yu, why would I spend his?
But now, it’s pointless.
Even if he begged on his knees, I wouldn’t touch another cent of his.
I stayed in a hotel overnight, found an apartment the next day.
Meanwhile, back at the villa, Pei Yu realized I’d vanished with my stuff.
He messaged the group frantically: “Damn, she’s gone—for real. She didn’t take any of her favorite bags. Did I screw this up?”
“Don’t panic; it’s early days. She probably left the valuables to seem less materialistic. And not taking them proves she’ll come back, right?”
“But she blocked me too. Is this okay?”
“Chill, bro. Hold firm, or it’s all for nothing.”
“Okay.” Pei Yu was still uneasy: “No, she’s so pretty; with us broken up, guys will swarm her. Good thing I kept the breakup quiet, only told you guys.”
“But I’m worried. Liang Zheng, you’re the steadiest; I trust you. I can’t show up, so keep an eye on her for me.”
After a long pause, Liang Zheng replied in the group: simple and short.
“Sure.”
