Inside the utility room, Lin Shishi felt as if a hundred claws were scratching at her heart.

She was terrified that her brother would be implicated, and equally afraid that her own sins would be exposed.

It wasn’t until her brother returned home unscathed, without even mentioning Bao Ying’s name, that her frayed nerves finally began to relax.

“A friend had a bit of an accident. The police were just asking some routine questions. Don’t worry!”
