“How are you going to blow this cash? Buying a Hermès this time?”
Shen Yutong looked even more excited than I was now that the money had been returned. Even though he couldn’t spend a cent of it himself, he kept circling around me, floating in the air.
“I’m not spending it,” I said.
“Not spending it?”
“Yeah. I’ve realized that your dying wish isn’t actually to spend all this money. Even if I blew through every last bit of it, it wouldn’t help you move on to the next life.” I stared at the large sum that had just appeared in my mobile wallet. “I’m going to add back the hundred thousand I already spent and transfer the whole thing to your parents. Now that you’re gone, they’re the ones who need the savings.”
He stopped circling.
Instead, he just stood there, staring at me blankly.
After a long silence, a silly grin spread across his handsome face. “It was really my loss, not marrying you while I was still alive.”
