Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Everyone was terrified, yet the Prince acted as if nothing had happened, turning his gaze calmly toward Second Sister.
“Beautiful lady, does this shoe belong to you?”
Second Sister’s face was deathly pale, but she couldn’t suppress the urge to become the Princess Consort. She gritted her teeth and nodded.
This time, the Prince sliced off her heel.
Blood sprayed across the floor, dripping down through the cracks in the wooden planks. Terrified, I looked around for a place to hide, pacing in circles with anxiety.
Stepmother screamed and rushed to embrace her two daughters, but the Prince pressed his sword against her throat.
“Do you have any other daughters in this house?”
Stepmother’s lips trembled.
“No, no more…”
Even with such severe injuries, my two sisters gritted their teeth and insisted there was no one else in the house. The determination of this mother and her daughters to prevent me from becoming the Princess Consort was unexpectedly firm.
I truly thank you all for that.
“What about a young maid? Is there none of those either?”
Stepmother continued to shake her head. The Prince let out a laugh, sat down in a chair, and began wiping his longsword with a pristine white silk cloth.
“Well, that truly is interesting!”
With a wave of the Prince’s hand, his attendants dispersed to search the house. Soon, Rod ran back to the Prince’s side.
“Your Highness, the Cellar door is locked.”
The Prince looked at Stepmother.
“This is your last chance to stay alive. Open the door.”
The Prince’s features were sharp, and his tight jawline showed that his patience had reached its limit. Seeing Stepmother standing frozen, Rod drew his sword.
“Kill her. The rest of you, break down the door.”
Only then did Stepmother snap out of it. With a scream, she scrambled toward the Cellar entrance on all fours.
“I’ll open it! Waaaah, I’ll open it! Don’t kill me-”
The sound of keys clashing against chains rang out, and the Cellar door was pulled open with great force. A beam of light slanted into the darkness.
In that pillar of light where dust motes danced, the Prince stood before me with a wicked smile.
“Ha. Found you.”
